I need a hysterectomy because of very heavy and prolonged bleeding every month. The Dr. wants to remove my cervix but I don’t think I want to. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks to all and good luck everyone.
hello
I had a vaginal hysterectomy year and half ago and my consultant removed cervix as well as uterus.
he doesnt tend yo leave the cervix behind if post menopause. there us less chance of deveoping cervix cancer if its not there also.
I had a prolapse uterus s why he removed all.
I think you need a long chat with yiur consultant and ask all the relevant questions.
good luckx
I had a hysterectomy five years ago with removal of the cervix and I haven’t had an orgasm since. I don’t know why this happened to me but I bitterly regret having a hysterectomy and the surgeon knew that I wanted my cervix to remain. His words were “I’ll do what I see fit when I get you on the operating table”. So obviously he saw fit to remove the cervix as well. There is evidence apparently that removal of the cervix is a detriment but others on here will say they had the lot removed and they are OK. There is the back up of course of cervical screening if you keep it. Good luck
my ob wanted to remove my cervix as well as uterus and fallopian tubes. i ended up not doing any of it. i don’t understand why docs cant just remove the uterus. it seems unnecessary to remove so much!
i had my cervix removed when i was 42. due to endermetrosis ?? and cysts on my overies i had it all removed
i honesty can say i havnt had any problems without it.
i judt think to myself one less thing to go wrong. im 59 now and have taken HRT since
its your choice, good luck
ps have have no problem having a orgasm.
Ask him/her to explain why it is necessary, is cancer suspected? I had endometrial cancer so everything was removed to prevent it spreading, remember it is your body, your choice.
