Today's milestone / achievement

Day 25 in my house (ooh sounds a bit big brother-ish don't it?)

Today I showered standing up! Needed the bathboard thingy just to get in and out ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Who else has hippy progress today?

Well done for the mile stone  !!!   My milestone was yesterday  I walked 30 mins my regular pre op a walk I felt proud after 7 2weeks  had  good New Years eve

today not so good I have worked up with bad pain around hip bone  area

been sleeping on sides with a pillow between legs

quite a bad pain has anyone else had this

seemes like I may have slept in wrong position  or  the long walk

any feedback it will be grateful

Hi Gertie, I'm 23 days post op. Wasn't given a bathboard as none weight bearing on op leg but we put a towel on the side of the bath, I sit on it with op leg out and my husband spins my legs round while I lean back and then stand up on good leg (like a stork) whilst holding shower fitting for support. My hubby has to have an arm out for support also! It's so amazing to have a 'proper' shower isn't it! Not managed to shave my legs yet, although they're hidden under the teds.

Vicki

Ive not tried that yet but was thinking of it.  You have prompted me for my next shower.  Thanks

Happy new year, i managed a shower this morning with no help getting into the bath, been using a little step now only need to hold on. Also walked well limped a bit acrossvthevroom with no crutch. Yea

I have just started on my side, i cannot sleep like it for long as i get an ache in my hip, i wonder if i have the pillow in the right position, one galf under bad leg,the other end on good leg to turn on. Any suggestions

 LOL re; big brother -

Well, I signed up to volunteer in a senior home and I went yesterday, today and due to illness of someone going tomorrow as well -

Might have been a little too optimistic as the side of my hips (both) feel bruised and yeah, aches and pains around knees, ankles and back -

Not doing anything heavy, just pouring coffee and tea, do some games - more assisting than really working if you know what I mean ...

Going to lie down and stretch the hips for 30 minutes -

Big warm hug,

renee

Everytime I overdo it or get pain I rest up for a day. That has done the trick so far!

I had to buy my own board, but it was so worth it! I was sitting on it for most of my shower previously. Although it did give me my independence, I still wont shower unless someone else is home. Sensible me yay! X

Felt so much more myself. If u feel confident, do it! X

Well done Gertie, that's a great attitude to take, which will hold you in good stead for your recovery.

Celebrate every milestone, however small it seems.

I now keep a log of my little milestones, how far I manage to walk, or how long I am on my exercise bike - looking back at it I can now see just how far I have come along that long and winding road to recovery.

Likewise, I'm now listening to my body, when I over do it resting the next day definitely helps !  I keep thinking I can do more mentally, however, physically my body tells me otherwise ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Still not managed to lie on my side though - can't wait for that!!!!

Ha ha had to laugh about shaving your legs!!!! I'm so glad nobody sees mine, they'll have to stay unshaven for a while - at least it's winter ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Oh yeah! No support? Go sue!

That is such a lovely idea! Very selfless x

That's the way I roll as well, I need all the motivation I can get ๐Ÿ˜Š

Great idea Graham - I might just start that,  as sometimes I forget just how far I've come, especially on those days when its a struggle.

Happy New Year gertie,

โ€‹Well done!

Iโ€‹"Ran" to catch a bus yesterday! With walking stick of course.

Well done ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I'm now recording everything I can, so I can write this book everyone seems  to want me to do - 'the hip surgery survival guide', but it is great for reminding yourself just how far you have come.
