Tengo una infección muy grave en la uña del pie derecho desde hace aproximadamente un año, hasta el punto de que he ido al médico por frustración. Hace unas tres semanas fui al médico y me recetaron terbinafina, pero después de leer todos los efectos secundarios, me asustó tanto que no me atrevo a tomarla. According to the number of scripts written for this medication the loss of taste is rare. I am just now getting some of my taste back now after 14 weeks. At first I could not eat much of anything and had no appetite. I can eat a lot more things now although they don't taste 100%. I took it for 63 days out of a 90 day prescription before my taste was affected. I have lost 20 pounds and am 66 years old. Another thing you need to do is get blood work for your liver while on this medicine. I was not told this until I went back to the doctor for the loss of taste symptom. Good luck on your decision. If I had it to do over and knew what I know now I would have never used this medicine. Of course my fungus was not so bad that it affected my life as it seems to be affecting yours.

Let me start by saying this medication affects everyone differently!! My husband took these meds, & only thought the taste was yucky.
I, on the other hand, noted a toenail infection last March, but did not go see my GP until late April. He put me on this med & within 3-4weeks, many foods had list their taste! By 6 weeks, I pretty much had few foods which tasted good to me!
I began to lose weight and had never experienced anything quite this miserable!
Since last summer I've unfortunately needed back surgery... Not caused by this!! Between that horrid medication & surgery my weight is ridiculously low!!
I went off the nail fungus medication at 8 weeks.
Today it appears that with time & gradually trimming, my nail will eventually heal.
So, you may be like my husband...bad taste nothing more. But, should you choose to take it & notice your taste 'being off' at week 4-5, my non medical advice is to crush it in a plastic bag and throw it in the garbage. It's not worth the ' lack of appetite nightmare!!!
Por favor, no hagas eso. Muchas personas han reportado algunos problemas con la terbinafina. Tengo 19 años, también soy joven y puedo decir que no es un “privilegio” solo para los mayores. Créeme, una vez que pierdes el gusto, es probable que caigas en depresión y también tengas problemas de salud. Envíame un mensaje si tienes preguntas.
