Tomorrow is the big day any last minute tips ?xxxxx

So had my final blood test and haven't got the plague so it's all systems go for tomoz. Am attempting to keep sane and brave for my kids but it's hard luckily I have a morning op pizza and cheese cake for tea. Wish me luck xxxx

You will be absolutely fine, it will all be over in no time and you'll be seeing your kids again.

I was expecting the worst, but look at this site, so many THR are being done all day every day all over the country and your surgical staff have your best interests at heart.

Good luck, let us know how you got on afterwards.

Your amongst fellow sufferes..sorry I mean friends here.

My 2nd THR is scheduled for Friday..Not sure wether it's better knowing what to expect or not.

Try to focus on the 97% for whom THR  is a life changer.

The very best of luck, sure you'll be fine.

Hi bluemoomin

its two weeks today since I had my thr. My advice to you is to take the pain killers that are offered to you - don't try to be "brave". The doctors and Physios actually encouraged us to take the pain relief offered as you rest and sleep better and are more likely to want to get up and do your exercises if you have less pain. And the sooner you can get home to your kids!

Best of luck x

Good luck you will be fine you will be sitting up eating your tea in no time 😀 let us know how you progress

You are 24hrs ahead of me. I go in Thursday morning & just like you I am scared stiff! I'm 66 & have never been in hospital but everyone tells me I have nothing to worry about. By the time I go in you will be on the road to recovery. Wishing you all the luck in the world. Be brave, it can only get better!

Agree that you will do great and your children's smiling faces when you return will make it all worthwhile. Best of luck and prayers for a successfu surgery and healing recovery, susan j

All the very best with your op.  You will be up and on crutches before you know it and from then on it's progress every day.  Just try not to expect too much too soon and you will be fine.  And the bonus will be that the kids will have a mom who can do things with them without pain.

You will be fine, I had my right thr last july and never regretted it. Are you having epijural ? Best wishes..... Arthur

Hiya

sending you lots of best wishes and speedy recovery. Just one tip...just be kind to yourself thru your recovery. ive got mine on the 18th.

will be thinking of you

Denise

Good Luck.  You will be fine and having a cup of tea in the afternoon.  Don't worry, just relax, let the system take over when you get to the hospital and you will soon be home again.

Thank you all smile just having my last soak in the bath smile am having an epidural xx

I would say the epidural is great cos u wake up without feeling groggy. Try not to worry i am 3 months post op and i worried about the pain when i woke up but really had no pain just a bit uncomfortable. Good luck

Hi

Good Luck

Its normal to be scared at the last minute.....it will be over before you know it

As someone said take all the pain killers offered

When I was going home I was told to keep on top of the pain {by taking tablets} not to play catch up {just taking them when I suddenly thought I should} To have a better effect they need to getinto your blood stream

I was also told you get no medals for not taking your meds.

Good Luck again

Hi Paulus

just had my first thr and I know I will have to have the other one done once I am recovered from this one (!). I am hoping that this first experience will help me when my second one is done.  I think the fear of the unknown made me more anxious before I went in to hospital.

Anyway best of luck for your second op you will soon be feeling so much better. x

Hi Val

I had my op two weeks ago and like you was very anxious ( I think we all are ). I hadn't been in hospital before either, apart from having my tonsils out when I was about 7! The hospital staff were fantastic. Once you get to the hospital you will be well looked after and before you know it you will be in recovery ready for that cup of tea. Best of luck for Thursday and let us know how you get on. X

Thanks Linnet.

Yes the fear of the unknown is a big factor..I'm still apprehensive, but maybe slightly less than for the 1st op, when my main worry was the outcome, which fortunately after a tough few months turned out well.

Ive never known so many folks having THRs as this month..

Lets hope there's safety in numbers.

Hope your recovering well, and good luck to all you February hipoppers.

i can't wait til it's over. Nothing could be worse than the pain I am in now. Hope all goes well for your recovery too. I will hopefully be on here in a few days telling everyone how easy it is!

Just back on the ward after my THR at Wrightington hospital.

The op went well..I had an epidural, with mild sedation..woke up halfway through and just chatted to the aneashastist..

I was very nervous pre op,but can categorically say to all those worrying, there is honestly nothing to worry about..

I'm making the most of the pain free 8hrs til the epidural wears off.

Well done Paulus, take care of yourself.
