Tonsilitis keeps coming back

Hi Guys,

I had an episode of tonsillitis in January. It started with redness of tonsils and then white patches on both my tonsils with high fever. My doctor prescribed me a course of Antibiotics (3000mg x 7 days + 1000mg x 3days).
I became better after 2.5 weeks but it was very painful.
But after that, a pattern started:

1. I woke up one day with a sore throat again and after checking in a mirror, it turned out that one side was reddish.
2. Next day one side was covered in white spots but this time no fever.
3. I got better in 3-4 days.
4. After 2 weeks, the same thing happened but on the opposite tonsil.

This happened to me 6 times in the last 4 months. I am really worried that it might be something serious. Can anyone please advise me what i should do.

For the first 3 times, i went to the doctor but they gave me antibiotics 2 out of three times with no clear answer why this was happening again and again, therefore i did not go to the doctor after the 3rd episode.

Please help me in figuring out what can i do. I will be really grateful for any advice.

Hi TJ, Did you get a swab done? If it is strep throat you may need a different type of antibiotic…if you have a partner or family member with similar symptoms, you can be re-infecting each other… high doses of antibiotics can cause a fungal infection? It could be something resistant to certain antibiotics…the swab would tell you exactly what it is and how to treat it, some viral infections can drag on for a while…you really need to consult your DR and they need to do more diagnostics…you will get straightened out with DR help, try not to panic and be patient Good Luck and BEST WISHES​:wedding:
