Torn/detached tendon (Shoulder)

After an MRI scan i find i have a torn/detached tendon in my shoulder

Day surgery next,6 weeks in sling, rehab and no heavy lifting for months...

Does it really take that long for recovery ?

Not my area of injury, David (Achilles Tendon busted) but I think all these mechanical injuries take longer to heal as we got older! My 18 year old nephew is back skateboarding after some scary arm breaks in weeks; being kind to yourself is part of the healing!

Hmmmmm i have to agree..... age will be a big factor on the recovery process sad

Don't dispair! I'm 65 anf on the mend from a ruptured Achilles tendon; 2 months of crutches and a boot; hoping to get back to walking following a visit to the clinic this morning.....

yes is the short answer try not to do more than you are told or it can set your recovery time right back

I KNOW THAT SOUNDS PBVIOUS BUT YOU WOULD BE SUSPRISED HOW OFTEN THAT HAPPENS

It just seems such a long time to refrain from hard work etc..... im not used to it.

I assume there is a high success rate ??? hope so

Easier said than done for me.....................

Ouch !!!! 2 months ???? hope recovery comes quick for you smile

Had Achilles lenghting and re attach surgery ..Had surgery July 8th had cast for 6 weeks then boot for four weeks..therapy for 3 weeks ....I walk all day at work like 15 to 20 miles ...I been bak since Sept 19th...hurts some days feels ok others

I DID WHAT I WAS TOLD AND NOW I AM NACKED

I HAVE CRPS

I AM ON VERY STRONG MEDS AND WILL BE ALL MY LIFE

HOWEVER I HAVE KNOWEN THE SURGERY TO WORK FOR OTHERS

JUST TAKE THE TIME YOU NEED TO GET BETTER NO MATTER HOW LONG THAT IS AND DO AS YOUR DOC AND PHYSIO TELL YOU BUT MAKE SURE YOU DO AS YOUR BODY TELLS YOU

PAIN IS THERE FOR A REASON AND DO NOT PUSH YOURSELF TO MUCH

IF YOU DON'T GIVE YOURSELF TIME TO HEAL IT WILL BE POINTLESS TO HAVE GONE THROUGH THE SURGERY IN THE FIRST PLACE.

GOOD LUCK I WILL BE PRAYING THAT THIS WORKS FOR YOU.

Thanks Amanda......

I will take your good advice

That is encouraging James........ thanks for that
