Hi there. I had my left hip replaced 12 weeks ago. At six weeks despite lots of movement and exercise to become fit again i had a tennis ball lump sitting under my scar, which impeded certain movements and has made sitting so painful it made me feel sick. With physio and laser treatment this has reduced and dispersed, but it is now a huge swelling across my hip, buttock and thigh. I still cannot sit and lying is painful. I feel that my side is going to split it is so tight. It is not going down fast and my groin lymph nodes are swollen and aching trying to deal with it. I have deep achy pains inside and I get sudden sharp pains from the groin down my leg which stop me sleeping. I cannot take ibuprofen with other drugs i take and nothing I can take appears to reduce this. The orthopaedic surgeon and GP do not take any interest in this lympodema yet it is not going down my calf at all. Has anyone had a similar experience and if so how did you resolve it please? Thank you.
HI Sounds like you are having a rough time, I am still recovering from two hip replacements and finding it very hard! had a lot of pain in groin area back and buttocks I feel its never ending! last week I went to visit my daughter and felt I was much better but since coming back I seem to have hit an all time low! pain has come back with the vengeance! i have just come back from doctors and have been given naproxen it would appear i have over done things i thought i was doing well but it just goes to show how easy it is to overdo things i have ti have xray tomorrow i hope everything will be normal? i hope you can get your problem solved soon best of luck
Keep an eye out for infection. Mine became infected, and it was a nasty deal. Had to have the implant removed. Have had a temp in for a little over a year. Doc says to put off replacement as long as possible to try to avoid the infection. It was a rare bacteria (serretia) and it’s unknown how I acquired it. I had swelling, shooting pain with each step. Had a needle aspiration to diagnose infection. Make them listen to you.
I intended to post that to gill86550
