6 months ago I had hip replacement, I understand where they did the surgery it is normal to still be numb, but that section remains swollen. The doctor says it's the fat that was cut that can't spread back out, so it stays swollen and slightly warm. The doctor says I have to use compression shorts for the next 6 months, to see if that swelling will go down. Sometimes it gets so swollen I think the skin is going to rip. Has anyone out there had this problem? If so, what did you do?
Hello!
Don't think it's swollen in my case....but numbness and pins and needles in both legs. Is this normal... not unpleasant but a bit weird...
Miss Frog,
I don't have the swelling problem, my incision was only 3" long but I do know that when I over do it, an ice pack works great for inflamation. 15 minutes several times a day.
Good luck,
Kathee
Wow kathee, that's tiny mine is about 8 inches long!

Thanks Kathee, but this is not a matter of overdoing. This stays swollen. It's to much adipose (fat tissue) in one place, and since it's been cut it can't spread out. The doctor says he's seen this before and maybe if compressed it will go away, if not he will consider Lipo (yuk)
