In March, 2012 I fell, fractured my hip had hip pining. In June 2012 had total hip replacement. Was in pain was getting cortizone injections for bursitis of which over a year ortho surgeon said something else is going on - MRI showed torn gluteus tendon. Nov. 2013 had that repaired. Went to physical therapy and had to stop because of terrible pain and still having pain. Ortho is telling me osteoarthritis. Thought arthritis was only in joints of which I believe I don't have a joint - as it's artificial now. Has anyone ever encountered this pain 2 1/2 years later? Need some suggestions, please. I have now decided to get a second opinion. Thanks if anyone has any ideas or comments.
Hi Charlotte, how horrible for you. A second opinion seems a good idea to me. I am not an expert but I also thought AO was only in joints. Certainly when I had my THR, I was told that the related pain would go away as the joint was gone. Let us know how you get on
Thank You, Sue I will keep you updated.
I also forgot to mention, can't sleep on right side ( THR was done on right side).
When I wake in the morning, hard to walk until about an hour or sometimes longer after taking pain medication.
