Total hip replacement

5 weeks post op from total hip replacement my upper groin is clicking poping real week feeling also right hurts so bad its hard to walk. I'm still using my walker.  Is anyone having the same issues.

I am assuming you are in the states as you are using a walker. Did you have anterior or posterior THR.

My groining is doing the same thing ;however, I  haven't had surgery yet.

I'm 12 weeks post op and when I do the exercise I get the clicking which makes me feel sick so I have to stop and try again the next day. I thought it was normal? When I mentioned I get clicking to my surgeon he brushed it off, he said as long as your not in pain after then it's fine... 🤔

im sorry,to me that doesnt seem right at all-can you see a doctor? When i was kicked out-sorry-sent home, after 2 days,i was given a phone number to ring if there were any problems, have you not got someone medical you could call and ask advice from?im sorry youre having trouble-i found it a really anxious time, having no one medical to look at me till my staples were taken out by a nurse, and living alone,so i understand how you must feel.i wish you the best xx

Hi Jonesy,

How has your week of not smoking gone, are you cold turkey or using nicotine replacements. Hope it had not been too bad for you.

Hello Gary

To me this is something that needs an xray.  I live in Australia and this is the first thing the GP would order then if there appears to be a problem would refer me back to the specialist.  If it hurts this much it needs to be investigated.

All the best.

Hi Gary

Im also in Australia

im 4mths out from my 5th THR ,2 Dislocations and 2 tendon releases.

its been a real roller coaster ride and 4months out my groin pain is all back again, i can't walk far, getting in and out of a car is not fun and my hip is starting to click again.

i have so much less strength in my leg now not being able to lift it past an inch off the floor and haven't driven my car now for 3 years its all so depressing, it certainly changes your world.

HI Maree

I live in Australia had all my THR done at RPA read my reply i just sent to Gary

i see my surgeon next Tuesday.

Hi Jen are you in Australia im trying to find people close to home going through all the same THR things

Hi Gary

I am so sorry to hear of  your pain.  I have been fortunate to have had a great surgeon.  The initial surgeon who replaced both my left and right hips could not do the revisit on  the  faulty hip - my right one; and referred me to a colleague who specialised in my type of problem.  My left hip was ceramic/titanium but my right hip was metal on metal and this caused so much damage.  It was a Smith and Nephew product causing metal poisoning, bone corrosion and lots of pain.  At the time of surgery, I had a Urologist put a stent in, a Vascular surgeon to scrape a pseudo tumor off a main artery and other areas as well as my Orthopedic surgeon to replace the hip. I also has a hernia removed due to all of this.  I now have a metal plate inserted and a new hip.  I was fortunate that the stem was not affected and did not have to be replaced.  It was a long recovery and 3 weeks in hospital including physiotherapy. After the initial walking frame, I was  non weight bearing on two crutches for 2 months, then on 1 crutch which I found unbalanced me so went back two crutches weight bearing for 2 months.  Walks unaided around the house followed then walks around the yard and then I ventured further.  I was able to drive after 8 months.  It was all slowly, slowly and fortunately I am now retired so did not have to worry about work.  I still have scar tissue & nerve and tendon pain. I had some private physio sessions and I still do these exercises though not as much as i am now active.  I go to a heated pool once a week and do walking exercises and the spa is absolutely fantastic on the scar and nerve and tendon areas. I have been fortunate that my legs were measured and are as accurate as the need to be. I did everything I was told to do and was "hippie" smart after having had prior replacements and did not do anything i knew would cause damage.  I hope things improve for  you.

No sorry, I am in the Uk.

I'm the same but when I walk it clicks pops and feels weak where I get a little uneasy it may give out.
