my doctor gave me a script for Tramadol but I never took the pills. I noticed that some people have used them and am wondering if anyone has had any reaction. Are they better than Advil? The pilIs i have are 50 mg.
Its a great non addictive pain killer. Think of it as a ibuprofen but with out so much asprin in it. I get them. They do work alot better with balchen, but i dnt know y u are taken them. Can you give more i formation about why you are taking them then maybe i can tell you what you need to know better. I do take the same amount as you do but i take mine for my spine and also for my stomach pain but i take them 2 times a day and in the middle i take ibuprofen not to have so much asprin. I refuse to take OTC pills due to a tooth ache i had as a child, i gave myself pancreatic attack almost blew up...
They were originally marketed as having a low potential for addiction, but that has proven to be false. They are an opioid, and as such they are as addictive as any other opioid. But they are pretty safe for short term use, if taken as prescribed.
Some possible reactions include insomnia, nausea, and itching. The thing with this drug is that your body has to metabolize it into the actual active ingredient. Tramadol itself does nothing. Some people process it better than others, so it is difficult to predict exactly how it will affect someone.
I've been taking it for about 2 yrs or more. I have not yet gotten any side effects or dependent for it but as said b4 it works best for me with my nerve/muscle relaxer balchen. If anyone should take it i would recommend taking it with some kind of muscle relaxer they work best that way. Also with all meds drink some milk for your stomach lining. If you take pain meds on a empty stomach it will kick in faster then a full stoach but thats not safe for your stomach thats why recommend the glass of milk..

Well if I take it it would be for RA pain instead of Advil. I read where it doesn't destroy the stomach like Advil.
Norco is a brand name for acetaminophen (Tylenol) and hydrocodone tablets..What distinguishes it from Lortab, Vicodin, etc, is that it uses a reduced amount of acetaminophen. (Although many others brands are now producing similar tablets.) I think the idea is to save addicts who take large amounts from destroying their livers with acetaminophen
I should mention that there are a lot of drugs that you may not want to take concurrently with tramadol. Mostly, any SSRI antidepressant type drug, but there are others. Migraine medicines in the tryptan class should be avoided. Trycyclic antidepressants, including the muscle relaxer cyclobenzaprine (Flexoril), are also a risk. Read the patient information thoroughly. (I like to ask the pharmacist for the package insert that comes with his big bottle. It contains very detailed information.)
Tramadol is highly addictive and very difficult to come off once your body has become dependant on it. If you are taking it regularly for pain, then you most likely will not even realise you are addicted until you try to stop for a few days. Then it gives you terrible withdrawals. I think it is a useful drug for very short term use (no more than 5 days) but any longer than that and you risk addiction. It also acts as an antidepressant so coming off it can cause rebound clinical depression.
My advice to anyone who is debating whether or not to take this drug is don't, unless you absolutely have to. I was on it for two years and thankfully now been off it for around 6 years. It caused respiratory depression which kept me awake all night because I had to consciously take each breath. I avoided this by never taking it after 2pm. I was left with clinical depression after stopping the drug, which I was treated for with antidepressants for 4 years. I'm now off those too, and doing really well, but in my experience tramadol was a terrible drug. Avoid.
I had a bad reaction to Tramadol after 24 hours of taking them. I had stroke like symptoms and it was very scary. 4 months on and I'm still suffering with fatigue cused by the bad reaction. I wouldn't recommend personally but everyone is different so you might be ok?!
I have been taking tramadol for 10 years and I only take 2 X 50mg at night. It helps me sleep and although I'm a bit slow to get going in the morning 😁 it helps me with my pain relief 😌 As for any side effects, I was as batty as a fruit cake 🎂 before taking them lol 😁
Wow I've seen it makes a lot of ppl tired. I take 50mgs 2 times a day 4 2 yrs now i believe & a ibuprofen 1 time but all r with my balchen n i dnt get tired but i have 1 of the worst insomnia problems. Just got off my ambient, but my seriqul & trazadone works great @ night with a few other pills i take...
Wow im so srry for ur experience with that drug. For me ive been off n on never had a side effect of withdrawals i guess i should tyg. I was resently put in a hospital to fix my meds a dr gave me a pill that didnt react to the other pills i was on, but i dnt take that many tramidels a day i alternatum with ibuprofen dnt need any addictions. I am happy 2 hear ur off all them meds but unfortunately for me i do need some part of my almost death was trying 2 get off of so many pills.

Wow my primary dr gave me flexoril at 1 time good thing it didnt wrk for me. I do take baclofen its a nerve/muscle relaxer. Should i be worried. Unfortunately my pharmacy dont give them information papers with stuff about meds. What i do is if i feel funny i google it. I dnt like 2 read side effects, if me or my dad read them we get them...
Most pills do mess with ur stoach lining. Just like OTC will. Dont believe everything you read. Some pills will also mess with ur liver as well. Webmd or pill identifier are good sites to look pills up. Some doctors still dnt have full knowledge of all pills reactions and side effects. Some drs just give u wat u think u want as well. If u got any questions try them sites or ask here ive gotten good advice from ppl who been on the pill or even specialists on here...GOOD LUCK...
I would advise you not to take them. They are highly addictive. I do not become addicted to things, but I am on day 2 of detoxing off Tramadol and I feel terrible. I feel like I will never be nornal again. I took 100-150mg a day for nearly a year. In the past month I started having shortness of breath, chest pain and mood swings, so I decided to stop taking it. I feel like I have the flu right now and will be missing 3 full days of work to get through this. Ask your doctor for something else!
