Transmitted bad breath nightmare

I have read everywhere that bad breath cannot be transmitted but here’s my story. I kissed a guy I was dating and the kissing occurred on several occasions. His teeth were a bright yellow but I assumed that was due to some condition rather than poor oral hygiene so I overlooked it. When I kissed him there was a very different taste in his mouth, unlike regular bad breath. One night after kissing him I slept without brushing my teeth. I woke up with his exact smell the next morning. If it was bad breath as we know it I would have blamed a cavity or not enough flossing, but it wasn’t like anything I’d smelled. I tried every mouth cleaning technique and product but it never went away. Antibiotics work but it comes back as soon as I stop taking them. My teeth never turned a bright yellow but I was not spared the embarrassment of persistent foul-smelling breath. Four years later I’m still living with this problem and have given up on finding a cure. It goes away after a teeth cleaning appointment only to return a week later. Which means the only time I’m ever confident to kiss someone is after visiting the dentist, every 3 months. The smell is strongest in the morning and after a brush and even a tongue rinse. There is also a dry sensation it creates in my mouth, the same as I felt when I kissed the guy. I do have a compromised immune system and sinusitis, I guess these made me more susceptible. Had I known the extent in which my life and confidence would be ruined because of that kiss, I never would have engaged in it. I truly believed, like everyone, that there was no way bad breath could be transmitted. Because of this entrenched belief, I cannot find any information on how to wake up from this 4-year nightmare. If anyone has overcome this, please share your solution. I am desperate.
