TRAVEL INSURANCE WITH CROHNS AND HUMIRA

Had crohns for 25 years had ops in 1990 and 2000 very few flare ups in between, had a flare up in november and was on steroids for 8 weeks then had scans to see what was happening got alot of inflamation in bowel so they are putting me on humira next week. I am due to go on holiday in 4 weeks, struggling to get insurance because i am classed as waiting for treatment. what insurance companies are people using for crohns  and has anybody been on humira and had any side effects and how long did they last...thanks

Dont want to put a downer on you, but I found Humira did not work. But gave me a depression, if you knew me. You would say I was the last person to become depressed. I have a first direct Bank account I pay for, this comes with "free" travel insurance from Arriva. I was not waiting treatment last time I went away, but they did not give me any extra premium or restriction.

was thinking of waiting untill after wednesday and had my injections then i am no longer waiting for treatment.

Cant help regarding insurance but I've been on Humira for nearly 5 years and haven't had any side effects. I have Crohns and associated arthritis, I was put on methotrexate for Crohns and Humira for arthritis. They are working the other way round though, when I had to stop taking methotrexate prior to an operation my arthritis was so painful I couldn't wait to start taking it again. I think it's down to the patient, some have side effects but I can honestly say Humira has been really good for the Crohns.

Got my insurance sorted and had a good holiday, just one flare up but not serious. had my first humira injections and no side effects, staying positive and hoping it will work.

I am on Humira but am finding it does not work and am still having regular flare ups I was increased to having the injections once a week instead of every fortnight. I never got any side effects but I would advise injecting in to the stomach rather than the leg as I found the leg hurt more. i do hope it works for you and keep your chin up.
