So I posted here a while back. Blood test came positive for HSV2, not aware of the blood result specifically and I am kinda afraid to find out- one doctor said as long as I am not shpwing symptoms then I should not worry as blood tests can be inaccurate (she took the test), while another said that the blood test is not inaccurate (I called her). I took the blood test and it covered all stds. I did not have a choice in the matter of picking which one. I have been a lifelong sufferer of pelvic pain so I was thinking about covering all bases. I was absolutet blindsided by the hsv2 diagnosis.I still am. Will just assume I am asympomatic then as I have never presented any symptoms like herpes -- lesions of any kind. I do not want to pass it onto my prtner. Is it possible to take medication to prevent it? If so, would there be any negative side effects? I am worried to death. I thoufht about getting hellowisp but I do not know if I really have hsv2 or not but I do not want to risk it to my partner. any help at ALL would be nice.
unfortunatelty there is no medication for herpes that will make you non-contagious. there is evidence that suggests you can still pass on the virus without symptoms but generally you are most contagious when you actually have the sores. i contracted herpes after my partner gave me oral sex while he had a cold sore. so we are both now carrying the virus. we dont have sex at all if i have any lesions down there because its so painful and obviously not nice down there (luckily this only happens about twice a year) but day to day we dont use condoms as we are both carrying it already. you should use condoms with all of your new partners anyway, and then if things progress you could have the conversation with them about you having a positive test but never having symptoms and see how they feel about it. if you are already in a relationship then you should discuss this whole situation with your partner, they might also be positive and not know! hope this helps! x
