This drug is using to treat severe psoriasis conditions. Has anyone read anything about use for our condition. It suppresses the auto immune system so cells cant reproduce to build more bad cells and is taken orally in tiny doses
My mother was given Methrotrexate for her rheumatoid arthritis when after thirty years she was taken off prednisone. Like chemo patients who take it, she got a very sore mouth. Then, after a few weeks she had psoriasis all over her arms. She was far from home, visiting me, so I went and talked to my pharmacist who showed me the big info sheet with pretty extensive side effects. Then Mom phoned her rheumatologist and he told her to stop taking it. She's doing very well after a decade or more on Arava, an NSAID.
I myself would only agree to take it if nothing else worked and my LS was really painful or scarring quickly.
I used methotrexate for Crohn's disease and had no ill effects but can't say it made a huge difference to the LS.
I wouldn't like to try Methotrexate unless really desperate.
