As many as you'll know I have been very depressed but I finally got the surgery on the 5th of July. My concern it was to early since I had the left one done in March. I'm going home today so we will see how it goes. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated
Hi Teresa,
Rest as much as possible with you leg elevated. Use ice packs several times each day to control swelling and discomfort. Make sure that you do everything by the book. The worst thing you can do is push yourself too soon. Follow up with physio (PT) by the second week.
Best of luck as you continue to recover
Thanks they set me up with therapist,Monday outpatient so hopefully everything will go well
Dear Teresa,
how are you doing and feeling?
Are you still in the hospital or already at home?
It probably feels strange to have 2 new hips ... well, that was how I felt ... I was happy and thought that healing really started then -
I was told not to compare the surgeries (which I did anyway) and they were right ...
the biggest relief was that that awful OA pain was gone .. I was so happy and became cocky .. doing things too soon -
I am with Kimberley here - rest as much as possible the coming days- do your exercises - no need to do them all at once in the beginning -
you and your body went through a lot and it might also affect you emotionally ..
be very gentle with yourself and let us know how you are getting on, okay !
well done, girl
big warm hug
