Trigeminal Neuralgia do I really have it, or is it a wrong diagnosis

I have very bad ear pain, temple pain, various head pains and some tendernes on the left side of my head,  tooth pain, neck pains, and aches in upper arms, all this on the left hand side, sometimes in the nose and cheeks, verty itchy eyes and down the side of my nose. I have headaches, I feel every day as though i have a bad hangover.   Some strong piercing head pains which come and go.  Is this diagnosis correct. From what I have read the pains with TN are much worse than this.  ?

Certainly could be TN ! Certainly fits the picture. Did the docs put you on medication for it?

I had ON ( Occipital Neuralgia ) they put me on carbamazapine...made all the difference smile

Ive been ON free for about 5 yrs now

I was put on Cymalty but it made no difference, I am now on Carbamasapin but that is not working either.  When I read about it people say that the pain is so bad that they drop to their knees, that is not my experience, I don't know if some people have it worse than others, as I type now I have pain in the back of my skull, sometimes it itches too.

When i had pain it was like thousands of ice picks / needles being pressed into my head. I couldnt brush my hair, i couldnt touch my hair ! It was an area on the back of my head about the size of my hand with spread out fingers. i dont think i touched my hair / head for about 4 months.

It took about 6 weeks for the carbamazapine to really take hold. So if its been less than 6 weeks, give it some time smile

What dosage of Carbmasapine are you on please.

I'm no longer on it...i was on 300mg morning and night. I was told it can take 4 weeks to start taking effect, but im pretty sure from memory it was about 6 weeks for me
