Troubles in School

I get so scared when I'm assigned huge projects in school. They make me nervous every time and I either never get them in or I get them in late or they're not good enough. I just feel like it's so hopeless every time. Then they sometimes make my anxiety kick up as well. Not fun.

Hi,

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?

I only ask because honestly, there is so much unnecessary pressure put on young people these days, and it's totally unhealthy.

I'm not saying don't learn, don't be educated; just try and keep it in check.

So many things you're asked to do and understand in school aren't THAT important. I know it's cliched but half of what I had to "know" in order to get through my education has little to do with everyday normal life.

I know how much pressure is put on you during school years, and it's important to learn the fundamentals of English and maths, but if you find some academic aspects to your education too demanding, try not to put yourself down or feel too much pressure to be "better".

There are different types of intelligence. It could be that you have high emotional intelligence, you're brilliant at sport, a fantastic cook. Anything. These are all types of intelligence and skills not generally measured or tested in your life at school.

Trust me, these are the things you will need and thrive on in the real world.

Have you spoken to anyone about your anxiety?

Sometimes even just literally saying you feel anxious helps; it can diffuse situations and let others know you aren't feeling too comfortable.

Please don't think that because you are feeling tension at school that this will necessarily transfer into your life later on.

Just do your best. If it isn't good enough then okay, you'll find something you are good at.

Be the best version of yourself, that's all anyone can ask of you.

If you fall short sometimes, no big deal; you tried.

Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses; the important thing is that you manage to still feel good about yourself and proud of yourself and learn, in time, how to identify your particular strengths and work them to your advantage.

Main point: try and ease the pressure on yourself.

You are great at being YOU.

Thank you. That means a lot for me to hear.

Hi

Have you tried talking to your teacher? They may be able to give you extra time or some extra support so you won't feel as anxious. Is there a friend or a sibling who can help you with your project? Try not to worry too much all you can do is do your best, that's all your teacher is wanting from you.
