So I’ve had anxiety (specifically around health) for almost a year now, but only really realized this in May after a panic attack that landed me in the hospital (typically I’m more prone to overthinking symptoms, occasional nausea or feeling like I can’t sleep, all of which I can thwart usually with a few minutes of CBT and self help reading I’ve done). Because of this, I’m very hesitant to introduce any antidepressants into the mix, considering I am still able to work, socialize, exercise, function, etc. For me, this impacts me for about 20-30m at a time and I can often mask it, but there’s an odd time when I keep myself up for hours, or I feel distracted longer than usual. Does anyone know of any natural recommendations or tips that would help? I’ve been reading a lot of self help books, doing yoga, drinking chamomile and trying to exercise as much as I can which has helped.
What is CBT?
I know compiling can really help or therapy. Also I find that deep breathing works very well the key is that you have to do these things all the time or they don’t work. So many people say I tried therapy or deep breathing techiniques or meditation but they only tried it when your having anxiety it will never work.
The key is to train your body how to go into that super relaxed state by repetition and then when you have anxiety or start feeling overwhelmed you can easily get back to that place of mental clarity because you have practiced it so many times.
Myself I did I three times a day for a few months and then it really started to help it only takes about 10 minutes to get the full benefits of deep breathing there’s apps and YouTube videos that can teach you the basics. Good luck
Hi
Good on you for trying natural methods to deal with these issues! Well done.
Some people find magnesium very helpful as it is helps to relax the muscles.body and it is necessary for lots of different functions in the body.
I would steer clear of any meds as they only work as a temporary measure and in UK Guidelines state that drds can only prescribe them for 2 to 4 days at a time. Previously it was for 2 to 4 weeks at a time but then only in extreme cases.
U are doing ok with your present regime. Take care.x
It is normal for people ct many people find that they have times when for no apparent reason they cannot get off to sleep for a while. This happened to me when I was working and still does.
Cognitive behavioural therapy - training your mind to think before reacting in a sense. I recommend you google it and learn more, can be very helpful for many!
I love your point that so many try it only during anxiety - I feel like a lot of people miss that practices need to take place before an attack!
