My urologist is recommending I do a "TURIS". I was wondering if anyone has done one and would be willing to share their experience as well as the follow up side effects??? Iam especially interested in the following 2 weeks after the surgery as to what to expect. And if you are still getting up frequently at night to the bathroom. Thank You.
Chuck. Look it up on the computer They burn away some of the prostate. It's takes longer to do and more bleeding This is ken I sent you another e-mail and it's on hold I live in orlando Fl. Had the urolift done on monday put 4 implants in I sleep all night and I pee great this morning. I would not let them cut anything away from my prostate. It's your body but I think it was the best thing I have done. It will get better has time goes on. The urolift does not interfere with your sex life. Anytime they cut anything off the prostate there is a chance of ED. The prostate is the pump and it help with some fuild in the sperm. I would not take the chance. My urologist talked to me about everything. I'm off all pills no side effect and that is a good thing. Dont know what you Dr told you but you need to ask questions. Ken
Hi Kenneth; May I ask who was your Surgeon that did the Urolift and what hospital did you use??? I may want to go your way as its definitely much "less invasive" and offers a guy hope on not having to give up his sex life. I guess I should also ask what city your surgeon is located in??? THANK YOU.
Chuck I live in Orlando Florida. I trust him completely. His name is Dr. Zamip Patel. He tells you everthing and if you don't enterstand he will explane it again. It was done in his Sugery Center. All the people there were very nice and they answered all my question. It's right next to Florida East Hospital Where are you at. Also what I can see the Turis and the turp are about the same One is done with a laser and one with a knife. Both cut away the prostate I wish there was a way we could chat and talk more.. Ken I would like to help you through this
First of all Kenneth a "BIG THANK YOU" for your "speedy reply". Do you have his phone number at his clinic??? May I ask how old you are??? And did your "insurance company " pay for the procedure??? Iam age 64 and live in Omaha. I think I mentioned that I did the PAE last fall and spent well over $10,000 out of my pocket. The procedure was $7,000 but my wife and I had to fly to Virginia from Omaha. Stay in a hotel for 3 days. The day before the surgery they had me come in for all the "blood work" and the pee meter device. Anyway, I don't want to do another one of these without really "thoroughly" researching it. As the old saying goes" been there done that". I want to really be careful this time around. Getting up 4 times a night is a "real pain in the ass".
Chuck it's ok. Men have to stay together. Here is the information on my Doctor. Dr. Zamip Patal 258 S. Chickasaw Trail Suite 200 Orlando Fl 407-303-6865. I have Well Care and it was paid by my insurance. I looked up what a PAE was that to me it did not seam that it would work. I'm glade that I had the urolift done. It has only been 4 days but I had a good night sleep and peed great this morning. Contact him Maybe he has a urologist friend in your area. E-mail me any time
Chuck I forgot to say I am 59
Kenneth; A Big Thank You to you. I hope and pray God throws you down a special blessing. Iam going to keep the info as I have written it all down. Going to see if my insurance will cover it and then go from there. Take Care and "please keep in touch".
Hi Chuck..i can`t help you with turis(laser i think) i had the standard turp for my BPH...was`nt offered a choice in the UK. But my surgeon checkedd out as 100% after 10yrs of standard and occasional green light laser turp.. I am 67 have been botha professional Cyclist (early days) then Pro squas player for a further 21 yrs.so i am fit and still cycle competitively....It appears that after a UTI back in Aug last year further tests revealed bph (actually a partial blockage of the bladder neck) as the procedeure is the same i got 2 for 1 as you might say!! aa rebore and a incision,, For my part the op was easy and i was home in 24hrs, no real issues, except the usual bleeding and painfil pee! after 5 days the blood and bits stopped and 5 weeks in i am feeling farly good. I have tried cycling (50k limit) seems ok, i gurss i pee a bit more when cycling!! i have over done the brush-cutting>>> and felt distressed for a couplr of days. But now with plenty of fluids in>>water tea(scented and decaffe) some sugar free squashes , i sleep thru the night, maybe 1 go !! during day every 2 hrs probably and i have a good strong stream.,i am drinking more than usual......I think the essence of any turp or similar is ....The Surgeon..the Hospital...The advice they give afterwards(mine was poor here) and your physical state, the fitter the better!! the procedeure Ken is recommending i am not familiar with but would estimate the same conditions apply.. but i would say a procedeure should in most cases relieve the symptoms you have! be positive there are dramatically more success stories than fails.. as a ps my sex life is pretty much as before, my girl-friend is 42 and has not complained. Ken is correct about ejaculation... at the moment little or nothing c"comes" out...hey less mess !! hope this helps..Syd
Well if you are 67 and your girlfriend is 42 all I can say is you are one lucky stud!!!!!!!! Iam envious.
Hey Guy I'm very happy for you. What Chuck said is true. Your a lucky man. You were in good shape and your body was working good for you. The doctors not all of them tell you of all the proplems that you may have. But there are 35 % chance of ED. I don't think that any man that love sex would like that. You have to trust your doctor and read all the information you can get. I see your problem started in august of last year. Mine to. I ended up with sipsis last august. I got it for food poisoning. It was in my blood for around 8 weeks. Doctor told me that I was lucky because I was in kidney failer . Had a very bad expeience in the hospital with them forceing a catheter in me 3 times.( Never ask my permission ) Buy that is another horror story. I had 20 days of IV's treatment to get rid of the sepsis. And all the pills my doctor but me on to help me pee better. My orgasm were not the same. 2 weeks before I was in the hospital I was watching porn had a orgasm that was so intenese that I could not get off the chair. I don't know if I will ever get that again but have tied again after my Uro-Lift It was 12 day and could not take it anymore. Well it took about 2 minutes. Felt good and had a good amout. The only thing is that I don't feel that prostate pump. Before all the med I could feel it pump 4 or 5 times Now I know it pumps because the sperm come out but not the same. I know this is a little forward but do you feel any diffent for the way it was before. Happy Healing Ken
Hi Ken,, in short, yes there is a difference in the sperm outlet....not much, if any ejaculation !! no pain though, and only a small amount of discomfort afterwards!! no difference in my desire, possibly better than before?? but yes different outcome....So not so good i guess !! Syd
Age is a great leveller, i am lucky that the stud bit was never that important in the relationship, but she is lovely, and both being musicians now helps it along, and we`ve known each other 20yrs, so great support over a difficult period!! hopefully we can all count on that from our partners...be well out there, good vibrations to you all( song quote) sorry!! Syd
Yes when I was having the dry orgasm they were a little discomfort. Got tired of the all the meds that I was on. That why I did the uro-lift. I think it going to be good. If not going to have to have the stricture cut out Not looking forward to that surgery. Going to ask my doctor about it. It may have somethng to do with some of my other problem. I guess at my age I shoud be happy I'm having a orgasm. Take care and have fun. Enjoy life my friend Ken
