Turning point

I feel like I have hit a turning point at 16 days. Little to no anxiety but feeling a little depressed, uninterested in things I used to love such as hunting, fishing, going outdoors. Im not getting the problems where the anxiety makes me feel sick or messes with my vision but still not 100%. Health wise I feel fine but if I start thinking of the anxiety is starts to bother me again.. is this the best it will get with meds?

Hi James I'm glad to hear you are starting to feel a little better. I've only been on fluoxetine for a few Weeks (recently upped the dosage so trying to stabilise at the moment) I too sometimes feel OK (usually in the afternoons /evenings) but then if I think about my anxiety I feel like it just pops it's ugly head straight back into the picture. It's very frustrating as you feel you just want to feel better all the time! I know it's a terrifying thought as the side affects are hurrendous but maybe you need to have a chat with your doctor about maybe upping your dosage? Maybe you just need them to be a little stronger? I hear people say that once they find the right dosage they live HAPPY normal lives so it has to get better doesn't it? That's what I'm holding on to. I wish I had better advice/knowledge for you but as I said this is all very new to me. After a reasonably happy/healthy 32 years I've ended up terrified of my own thoughts and feelings and having no idea if I'll ever feel free again. It's hard work but I focus on my kids and my husband and how much they need me and that keeps me going every day, still popping the pills and hoping for the best possible outcome ! I wish you all the best and I hope things get better for you xxx

Hiya James ... no your still at early stage with Prozac, you may have up and down days for a while yet, it can take up to 10/12 weeks and for some longer for it to settle down all together...

I’m in to 8+ months since I started taking Prozac and now on 60 mg and must admit I feel good now days, all depression as gone away, and no side effects for me now...

So to your question, yes it will get better... in time tho ... and it is a good med once you get through the symptoms at the start of the med... just take each day as it comes, and if you have a bad day, don’t feel like Quiting, as this is just how Prozac works, it is a slow med, but yes defo good when kicks in, I wouldn’t come of it now unless it stopped working for me.. good luk hope you feel great soon 🤗x

James, you are only 14 days taking Fluoxetine, ask the gp to take you off now.

These medications are not good for your body or wellbeing. why don't you try Yoga, Meditation or change your diet.  Try other ways of trying to cope. Not on Fluoxetine. I have been on Fluoxetine for 17 years, Iam 61 years old.
