Turps Operation

Kenneth is probably closer to right but that reality sounds more ominous than it is. You can live fine without a functioning prostate - its main job is to push semen out and its highly likely that after TRUP yours doesn't do that. Usually the consequences aren't bad - you pee better but your ejaculations are dry.

I don't suffer from RE. Everything works fine. I do not have dry orgasms.

The truth is that TURP has had its day. There are improvements in every field of medicine and surgery and TURP is not as good as the newer ones.

All reseach in medicine is to find improved procedures with better outcomes for the patient.

.TURP lost its crown to GL/PVP in 2003 and the GL equipment has much improved since then. Now GL has several rivals.

You dont have much left with doing what there doing you end up most of time with problems. Not even talking about retro.  Its not a fare trade.  I will not do it even  have to force myself for the rest off my life.  ken

Your very lucky  Ken

Derek we have haups and downs but you are right TURP should be left in the past.  If it is great way are there so many new procedure to pick from.  Men have been complaning about it.  I did not learn what a prostate was until I was 47 and was told I had cancer.  Once I found out THere is no way they cutting at it.  Ken

Kinda hope it had more to do with my docs skills than my luck. Lol

Well its both.  4% of men that do not get retro is because of the there doctors skill and caring.  Ken

I wish I would have read your post prior to my 2 turps in less than 2 week. It is butchery. I have to wear cath for a week now after 2 turps. The first did not open pee lane and severe pain after 2nd turps. My prostate is extremely large and normal peeing had almost stopped. I had to do something but i wish it would have been something else.

The first one should have opened you up  you should have not needded a second one.  It is going ot take you a long time to heal.  I am very sorry my friend.  Rest and take it easy  Ken

Finally a week after 2nd turps in 2 weeks cath removed i am peeing. It is such a pleasure to do the things you take for granted. It has been a very tough 3 weeks with lots of pain. I pray that it stays open and the peeing continues.

It has been a week after cath removed and 2nd turps middle lobe.  There is still blood and burns to pee, anyone else with same issue.  I am peeing every 30 mins

Yes. You will see blood for a while. Pain is from stretching during procedure. It will stop.

Yes it will take time.   A turp procedure is the worst to heal from and you had 2 of them.  No man should have to do that to his body.  Just listen to your doctor and try to rest when you can please  Ken

Thanks to all for the information, this has been hell and I am still there just not as bad. The doctor acted like this was a walk in the park.

4 weeks post TURP report

Cath first 3 days.  Immediately after cath had strong stream with distinct start and stop.   Small bit of blood at beginning of stream until end of 3rd week.   Bleeding stopped after 3 weeks.   Built up walking to 10 miles at 4 weeks.     At 4 week checkup, Dr gave go-ahead to jog and easy biking.   Still waking with same frequency as pre-surgery, however sleep is more sound without having a constant urge to go.   According to Dr, frequency will improve over coming months.

I started this thread and now it has been about a month since my turps for the middle lobe and three weeks since cath out.  Now I feel like the end of my penis is extremely sensitive and I can hardly walk with my under wear or running shorts rubbing against the head of my penis.  It feels like I have to alwasy pee.  It is very annoying.  Anyone else have this issue.  Did the doc burn a nerve?

I am sorry that you are still having a problem.  I hope you can get to where you feel it was worth having the surgery.  No man should have to go through these things jsut to pee...I will say a prayer for you.  Ken
