Twist and break the 90 degree rule

Hi

8 weeks post op and last night because the cat started to be sick I twisted out of bed and bent over to out some newspaper under him all in a matter if seconds, oh dear!  Hubby half asleep noticed what I had done.  This morning was in a great deal of pain and decided not to travel over an hour in the car to physio . However hubby thought it may be good to find if anything horrible had happened . The physio was great and said that I had pulled the scar material in the muscle and he did some ultrasound over the spot and put some taping to help it too.  I felt so much better after the visit and he reminded me that I should still be careful and not do too much just because you feel OK.  Phew!

Amazing what can happen in a split second and without thinking.  So glad you are ok.  I would likely have done the same thing,  Gonna put my cat outside tonight just in case.

Absolutely right..easy to forget when you haven't got the pain to remind you......still have to remind myself sometimes after 15 months!! Now swimming loads on hols in Spain....even breast stroke legs!!

xx

Hi IsabelleIsabelle

Hi Isabelle

hubby giving cat some sick medicine tonight plus he isgoing to puthim into his basket in the other room before we go to sleep!

Wow that was a close one.happy you doing dislocate that hip.

I would guess you husband cleans the box for the kitty.

I was alone do that was something I was very concerned. So one of the nurses told me to tape a cane to the shovel to use to scoop. That way I don't have to bend over to clean it.lol

Hi

i don't know how people manage really. My pet hate is putting the washing out with my gripper and going round and round with the rotary washing line!  Then I drop the pegs, then the gripper then I say something rather rude.  Good job no near neighbours.

oh dear .. good that your husband took you to the Physical Therapist and had it checked ... wishing you a good  and restful night ...

Hi

Am more relieved this morning as son has arrived back into this country from the Middle East to live. Will take some meds today and rest up as a bit emotional at present.

Good morning Hillary ... good to hear that you are feeling better this morning and that your son is back home ... just be very gentle with yourself today, okay ? relax and know that all is well -  it really is ....

Hi

will do. Cuddling cat at present he always makes me feel good.

Glad to hear you are all okay after your twist and shout!  I am still careful about tripping over the dog, mind you she is big enough to see being a golden retriever, as long as she doesn't move suddenly when I walk past her.  At least she would make a soft landing!  She is good to take for a walk as she doesn't pull and walks nicely by your side.  I have to make sure there are no cats in the vicinity though!

Hi Ginger!

I bought a long handled scooper from Amazon. It works really well.

Not sure if I'll ever be able to bend over at the waist again so it really commes in handy.

Good luck!

Curious,is the handle as long as a cane?my cane has a curved handle which helps.

I don't like to bend either. Four years ago I had six spinal fusions and lanectomies with bars and screws to hold it together. That surgery went much better than my RTHR surgery. Thanks for sharing about Amazon.

Best to you too.

The handle might be as long as a cane or just a little shorter. I don't really have to bend over that far. It looks more like a longhandled shovel. I think I paid $10 for it.

Glad everything is ok. Pets are wonderful to help healing but can cause problems.I haven't had THR yet. Just wondering- will I ever be able to twist & bend normal again? I know the first year for certain but later?
