i'm back!!!
well that's my first two hours and really quite peaceful they were
thankyou all for your goodnights it's nice to know what you are doing. I will probably spend a while in my trusty new chair my husband surprised me with when I got home from hospital it's one of those that recline and lift your legs up. Sometimes it's lovely having my leg lifted for me with no effort, quite pleasurable
i think it wil be a good investment as I know I will be doing this again with the other hip.
hope you all are either asleep or at least comfortable

Yes comfortable I usually turn in at 3am.....Ian.
Hi Carol
Where did you sleep? At first I was readonably ok in bed, waking every couple of hours but getting back to sleep again. Then one particularly bad night I decided to sleep in my rise and recline chair and had such a good night I've been sleeping there ever since! Doesn't always work - had a DREADFUL night on Friday night but last night 9 WHOLE HOURS! wirh only one trip to the loo! Almost worth the bad night to get such a good one! I'm 3.5 weeks post op.

I lived in my comfy recliner as I had alot of problems sleeping in bed on my back.
Hi Rosie
up again at four am. Sat In recliner, tried to sleep. I usually can but not last night.
ice pack (bag of peas - ice pack should arrive today, good old Amazon ) decided to leak on me so had to change all clothes, and you know what it's like trying to get a pair of Jim jam bottoms on on you own!
Trouble is I feel too tired to read or entertain myself.
the one consolation is that Is that I saw the sunrise and heard the beautiful dawn chorus
my only worry about sleeping in the recliner is I thought it was important for us to lie flat
hope you have a good day

seems to be a real problem doesn't it?
Have a god day
Well done carol, what a lovely homecoming present for you, enjoy being spoiled, wishing you a speedy recovery,
lots of hugs,

Mmmm how flat does your recliner go? While in hospital I had the top third of my bed at an angle of about 25 - 30 degrees with a pillow under my good leg and that was considered ok and although my recliner does not go completely flat its certainly on a par with that.
Perhaps you are confusing "laying flat" with, not sleeping on your side.
In France they keep you in the hospital for a week and I never slept "flat" once since the bed was electric and I could raise & lower my back & legs. I never got a rule about sleeping "flat" on your back.
