I think you should make sure you really need iron supplements before taking any. Like a blood test. Are you feeling tired and lethargic?
My neck had been sore as well but post menopausal i am now. I bought myself one of them lavender bags you heat up in the microwave, really found this helped, in fact its all gone now.

Hi Renee, I get terrible beck pain too and pain in the base of my scull. Luv a heat pack when its bad. Not sure if its the right thing to do but definitely gives me relief.
Renee, unless you've been diagnosed with anemia, I highly doubt you need iron. Recent medical research has found a coorelation between high cholesterol and high iron in the blood especially in peri & menopausal women.
Therefore, it would be wise to eat a healthy, green (spinach) salad which metabolically will help produce iron without any side effects. The other thing is that if you're feeling down or low from energy, a few things can help, like walking for at least 20 - 30 minutes, or doing some light exercise. Even doing a little weight lifting will help you produce more blood which will help revv up your adp and last. taking a vegetarian multivitamin, like I do when I'm down, it picks me up within an hour.
Unless you are aneamic do not take iron, as you could get iron poisoning. Or haemochromeatosis which is from too much iron and it. effect you organs,
