Two questions......... :-(

Hi girls...I have two questions that I need advice on, please....

1)anyone think a hysterectomy would just clear all this crap up? I have severe symptoms (especially anxiety) and with lots of uterine fibroids and also fibroids on my ovaries; my dr suggested a hysterectomy...

2) anyone experience anxiety from taking Prometrium (progesterone)? I know it is the calming hormone but just want to see if it could be an possibility......

Thoughts/advice?? help..........

Hi Jill,

Well a hysterectomy would help as far as no more bleeding and no more fibroid or cysts, that right there is a blessing, it won't stop Peri or meno symptoms only replacing hormones that have left your body,or just waiting it out and allowing your body to go thru change naturally and once hormones settle you will then settle with the symptoms.. Either way a hysterectomy will put you into quick menopause if ovaries are removed and if left in you'll just carry on as before symptom wise no changes.. But bleeding would be all done yay 🙌

Also the surgery for me was a piece of cake, only list about a half cup blood, and pain was there for about a week, now is a different story my anxiety high and really don't think I could stand it now so glad mines done and over with years ago.. My sister had the robotic surgery also no big deal, and mothers was I think thru stomach so more healing time and a bit more invasive, vaginal is the way to go if you have a choice, but with large fibroids which is what my mom had sounds like thru stomach maybe a few extra weeks healing with that one...

Did you not do hormone replacement after the surgery? Why is your anxiety so high if yours was done years ago?? Just trying to understand all of this. smile

One thing for me that I know for sure is that if the progesterone is not natural or bioidentical then definitely it can cause gnarly symptoms I would only use natural just my experience.

Xoxo

No hormones because my ovaries were left in me, so I continued to make my own hormones naturally.. Until fast forward 20 years later im now going thru my perimenopause and my symptoms are awful anxiety high, the usual yucky symptoms..

Hi Jill, I agree with Maui on the progesterone. Also, when I used too much progesterone cream I got a pretty anxious experience, feeling like I was having bad adrenaline rushes. So adjust if you are feeling anxious.

I used to think just getting a hysto would solve everything, but I was set straight by many of the women on this forum. Being thrown in to full blown meno is pretty tough. Although if you are having such problems with fibroids, it might be your best option, and who knows, maybe you won't have all the problems afterwards? IDK, can't get much worse than what we are all going through now.
