I'm so in awe of so many of you hippies who are two weeks post op and only using one crutch, or just a stick. I'm still hobbling around on two crutches, feeling stiff and sore, I suppose we all heal differently, but just want to feel normal again.
You are perfectly normal to have two crutches at two
weeks. Do not worry. We are pleased for the speedy
recoverers, but your surgeon will be delighted with your
progress. I had two crutches at two weeks, your aim now
is to gradually walk more each day and you will get there.
happy walking..Cathie
Hi Stephie
We are all so different, it will drive you mad if you compare your progress to others. I should know as I was almost round the twist before I stopped. Today makes it 5 weeks and 3 days post op for me and it is only the last 3 or 4 days where I have been able to go on one crutch for any length of time.
My progress has been slow, its unfortunate but it is what it is and I have to accept that I have done this without pain relief. I am either allergic or completely resistant to their charms sadly. No way could I go any quicker so whats the point in driving myself nuts.
If it hurts, stop. That's the advice that seems to be everywhere and it does make perfect sense. It must be lovely to be running around after two weeks like my 89 yr old mother in law on her second THR and I am every so slighly jealous. She was lucky, she admits it freely. Just hope I can be back strong enough to stand and cook her Xmas dinner lol if not it will be a TV dinner
You will feel better as the weeks go by I promise you. Take care x
Hi Stephie
As cathie and kristin have both said, everyone heals at their own pace.
Different strokes for different folks (to quote a tv programme)
Main thing is, are you making progress, day after day.?
OK put it this way, are you feeling a little less sore than you did yesterday?
Fair enough, then you are doing OK
Hugs,
Be gentle with yourself.
