It has been two years since I had ovaries removed due to family history, I was going through menopause anyway at 51, I was just wondering if any ladies are in the same position and how they are getting on, do you still get menoapause symptoms and how did it affect you?
i was thrown into menapause too with a rare ovarian cancer removed plus radiacal hysterectomy,, was such a shock the flashes are the hardest thing ,, and im not able to have hrt because of the rare cancer feeds off estrogen ,, how are you doing ??xx
I had ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus and adjacent lymph nodes removed in mid July, 2016 due to endometrial cancer. I had been in menopause for 26 years aready, due to thyroid disease.
Afterwards, had 8 months of insomnia. Still finding it hard to sleep. Skin is becoming crepe-like, internal tissues are fragile. Joints don't like to work. Have bacterial vaginitis. Can't use any form of estrogen. Since January of 2017, I've had three UTI's. Taking antibiotics right now for 3rd one. Believe it's due to lack of estrogen.
I retired in December, 2015 looking forward to an active, interesting future with my husband. That was not to be. I am struggling with lack of stamina and medical anxiety. A day when I can get my housework done without needing to rest during it is a good day. I'm not drowning in self-pity (I am well aware that there are many, many others worse off) but the last year and a half has totally changed my life.
If it wasn't for the support of my husband, good friends and the ladies on this site, I don't know what I would have done. My 2 children are grown and on their own, but though they care, they're more than 20 years younger--and sometimes they just don't get it.
