Ugh, I think I strained a tendon :(

late yesterday afternoon I started to feel some pain in my right ankle. It has become worse and I think it's the posterior tibial tendon.

whatever. I give up. I mean I haven't worked out except on the wussy little trampoline and I do it for  10 min at a time, at most 3x a day. And I don't jump (heartburn), but I step. And I have the proper shoes, blah, blah, blah. I haven't even been back to the gym since last week's "first trip to the gym".  So sad. And so somehow I managed to strain it (thank you prednisone! I read it makes you more susceptible to this type of injury).  At least, according to the stuff online, it doesn't appear that I have ruptured the tendon.

I am soooo falling apart. if I collect enough injuries I might even go to the doc . Pretty sure if I were a horse I wouldn't be here, I'd be in some very cheap pet food.

Have you by any chance been on antibiotics recently? In particular a quinolone - their names all end in -oxacin?

But other than that, pred and tendons doesn't always mix well and they become a bit delicate. I'm sorry - you were being such a good girl too! Most of us tend to allow ourselves to disintegrate a bit - but we are older

Rubbish you wouldn't have been pet food, you would have been a Tesco lasagne!

i did a tendon in my upper arm   took about 2 month to right itself   but its ok now     just give it time

LisaCACO - you are funny! It must be common for tendons and ligaments to be strained or pulled with this darn PMR.  I was walking along a road and skipped out of the way of a car. A searing pain in my groin happened immediately. I could hardly get home. Turned out that I tore a ligament that never gets torn. The physical Therapist and Doctor never seen that particular problem before. Didn't know what to do for me.  The Doctor decided to inject the area just above the ligament so that the steroidal concoction was pulled into the entire area by gravital force. It worked well until I slipped on a rug.  Now, I am suffering.  Have to wait 3 more months before the doc can inject it again. Icing the area helps a little.  I also noticed that I heal very, very slowly with any injury, no matter how small. My skin seems to be extemely thin and I bruise easily too. I feel really old now!

well i wouldnt admit to this normaly.   but  did a ligament   opening a tin of beans

i do have wear and tera in my thumb  joint so i thought i would try do it left handed

wasnt  a good idea/

Tins - invention of the devil for us! Use an electric can opener or if it is the ring pull things (even worse than an ordinary tin IMHO) it is possible to get a device designed for hooking into the ring pull but a wooden spoon handle will work too I'm told.

ha ha    eileen i have one  but  forgot.  so now its out on the work surface,

can i blame  forgetting on the  pred  as i blame   everything else on pred    lol

Seems fair! Does pred mess up the weather too???????????

well, went to the doc today because the pain became unbearable last night. Turns out it is posterior tibial tendonitis. Xrays look good. She gave me a very lovely lace up brace (black, so it goes with everything). Looks like I'll be in this thing for at least a couple of weeks. At least I can drive. According to her, prednisone isn't good for tendons. I'm supposed to stay off it (HAHAHAHAHA) and let it rest.  Now if only someone will tell my family, including the cats, that I'm not to do anything that requires standing on my right foot...

lol!
