Last night I started to do my exercises with a small weight on my foot but my hip said 'ouch'. I stopped and have been back on painkillers and two sticks today after being completely free of anything for a week (now 6.5 weeks). Tonight I could not stand on it at all and had to phone a friend who came and gave me pills, ice pack and crutches. Now I'm in bed early and very worried. Feels like I'm back to week one. Tomorrow I am either going to be better or I am going to have to go to emergency clinic. Any ideas welcome.
Hi Laura
It sounds like you are doing all the right things to help get things back on track. It's all too easy to overdo things when we start to feel better. I don't think I would have felt up to putting extra weight on my leg for exercising at 6.5 weeks.
I hope you feel better in the morning after a good nights rest.

Thanks Paula
i was only doing what the physio asked me to do but when I went to see her I was full weight bearing and standing on the one leg with arms in the air was no problem. I'm can't really blame her but guess I just caught it wrong last night.
Bless you. I'm sure things will settle with some rest and you will be back to where you were in a couple of days. It might be worth speaking to your physio first, she may have an idea of what's happened.
Good luck x
Hi Laura
personall I would get it checked out just to be sure. You are only just over six weeks post op and you will have internal stitches and your hip to think of. You need to make sure your surgeon knows what has happened. Phone his secretary tomorrow and explain what has happened. Ask if he has a clinic you can pop along to. If not it will have to be A & E.
Hi Laura ..
I don't really like to say this, but do it anyway ... i have done things that my Physical therapist wanted me to do and ended up in so much pain that, like you, it felt as if i was back to square one -- also had to do with weights (leg press on machine) - it took days to recuperate - now I just refuse to do things that hurt me and increase repetitions instead - my other hip needs THR surgery soon and is not helping right now ...
good that you can stand on your leg and find balance - just do that for now ..
good night ... be gentle with your self
