UK UroLift article.

Interesting article on UroLift in the UK.

Interesting that it says it costs £2000 for Urolift.  A poster on this website 3 weeks ago said he was quoted £15,000, which I found baffling as even Holep only cost £3400 all-up, privately

I believe that PAE is the most expensive treatment at the present time.

£3400 for Holep sounds cheap.

There's been many an article such as this over the 2+ years I've followed Urolift, including NICE reports yet the NHS is a million miles from adopting it. You go to the British Association of Urologists website and no mention. It really is poor, very poor that such an easy treatment is possible yet not available across the UK yet if anywhere bar a handful of places.

Take up of new urology procedures is always slow here.

GL was available and encouraged in Turkey and Rhodes long before here. When I asked to be referred from Scotland to Newcastle for GL in 2003 they agreed but the urologists letter had words like, rose tinted spectacles and just another means of boring a hole'

Even new drugs are regrded with suspicion. The GP I had when Avodart came out said 'In  six months it will probably be off the market' The urologist at the local hospital said the same.

I asked at my present hospital about one a day Cialis to improve my flow. They said 'We don't prescribe that here'
