Hi I’ve recently been diagnosed with high blood pressure. My GP has sent me for a renal ultra sound. The lady scanning me said that my right kidney isn’t filtering as fast as the left. She wouldn’t tell me any more than that and I have to wait for my GP appointment next week. Iam a little concerned as I have no idea what it means. Does anyone else have this? Or experienced anything like it?

It is really difficult not to worry. However, I would imagine that if this was anything really serious your GP would schedule you for an appointment sooner.
Regardless, even though this is easier said than done, just try to relax. I usually plan a few special activities to due during the weeks as I wait something like this out. That helps me focus on something else. I also sometimes go visit a friend whom I haven't seen for a while. (I'm single and have no family left. If I had family left I would definitely visit a family member for the weekend.)
Anyway, I just do anything I can to keep my mind off the test and pass the time as quickly as possible. And I do try to think nothing but good thoughts until I have reason to think otherwise.
Again, all of this is easier said than done.

Hi, I was similar to this. Dangerously high bp at a routine contraceptive check up. Sent for a ultrasound where it was discovered my right kidney was small and scarred, presumably from infections as a child. I have been at ckd stage 3 since diagnosis 17 years ago. My BP is controlled with meds and I live a normal life.

I only have a check-up annually and never see a nephrologist or attend hospital. I rarely have infections and when I feel one starting I drink cranberry juice until I can get to the doctors.
