Had ultra sound last night of my abdomen and pelvis area I asked the technician if there was anything untoward! I did see her pointing at the screen at something around my tummy area! Prior to scan she said they may do an internal one if needed but at the end she said it wasn't needed! Has anyone else had ultrasound where the technician told them it was ok and it wasn't or am I just stressing again..any help would be appreciated
Hi denise
I have to have an ultra sound in the next couple of weeks really nervous about it...they are thinking i have ibs,i have had blood tests done a stool sample all clear and lastly this to rule everythng else out!i was wondering what tour symptoms are and if u experience any period pain before tour period is due and also if you get sharp pains on the pubic bone?
Hi Denise, It depends. For me I needed an internal and external scan at the same time to discover that my ovary was stuck to itself or the inside somewhere, but that was because I had my womb removed roughly 12 years ago and they have nothing to hang onto. Also they shrink a bit as you get older. I also found out that ultrasound scans cannot detect operation scarring. That was directly from the person doing the scan. They tell me because I am a medical secretary. So it really depends? Good luck 🍀
Hi Ive had all the tests done als bloods stools etc all fine except a marker in my blood which is slightly up done repeat and it's now stable, yes my cramps were in lower abdominal region just above pubic bone felt like period pains and dull pain in my left hip! My periods stopped when I was 40! 😕 But all this has caused me so much anxiety feel a bit better after ultrasound just waiting now for results next wk my ultra sound is also to rule out any thing sinister before they say it's ibs
Hope al gos well for you,i understand how you are feeling im at my wits end with worry 😞Iv had the period pain now for a few days with my period not due its quite worrying,dr has advised its nothing sinister as iv had my smear also but you still cant help but worry!i was thinking that they could tell tou on the day of ultrasound al was good 😬So more waiting then after that for results?!
My ultrasound was found to be unremarkable and therefore inconclusive. I couldn't cope with the pelvic ultrasound so it had to be abandoned. Some organs could be seen but others couldn't. I was told that the problem for her was that I was so healthy. It was suggested that I should have it done again along with an MRi or CT to make up for the scan I couldn't tolerate.
My eighth doctor told me it wasn't necessary because my symptoms had not changed in 3 months and I had not developed anything new. He diagnosed me with IBS.
Hi philippa could i ask you what your symptoms are?im undergoing some tests just waiting for my pelvic and abdo ultrasound in a few weeks!was wondering if you have any off the following as im very anxious 😬Heavy feeling in lower abdo, sharp shooting pains on and above pubic bone, squeezing sensation each side of back and sharp crampy like pains at bottom of back...i also have had some period pain and my period isnt due for anothr 2 weeks!
My symptoms are mainly stomach pain and constipation. If I have a flare up the pain is agony and I get nausea. However, most of the time the pain is mild and as long as I get fruit, I can go to the loo normally. I also get pain on both sides of my stomach. The pain can shift to different areas or affect the whole stomach. I can live a normal life with it despite wondering when the next flare up will be.
When it all started, I had deep grinding stomach pain which was also stabbing and neuralgic. I also had loose stools, nausea, back pain and pain on the tops of my legs. I have had acid reflux for a long time and this sometimes goes along with my IBS. I assumed it was something to do with my period because my symptoms started just before my cycle. Initially, it felt like I was having a period but without the bleeding. My IBS pain used to combine with my period pain as well.
I have also had on off pubic bone pain since the age of 39 during my cycle. This started before my IBS. I asked the doctor about it and he said this was very common with periods.
When I had my ultrasound, I was told by the radiographer that it might be a small ovarian cyst but she saw no evidence of that.
Hi Philippa, I think that just before a period your hormones drop. That is usually when the pain happens in different parts of the stomach and the reflux is quite bad. I guess it is connected to the intense desire to eat and your body seems to burn food quickly. I guess it complicates IBS symptoms. Maggie x
Thanks for the info.
Thank you so much for your reply its so similar to mine...initially my pain started jst after my period finished,it confused me as it was just like period pain and i had just finished it, that went and i was getting lower back pain, stabbing round stomach and sore ribs! th pain around my back isnt so bad now just now and again i get sharp pains!but i had period pain a few days ago and now a heavy feeling in pelvis area do you experience the heavyness also?
No, I don't get heaviness, just pain.
Thanks for your information ☺️
update on the ultrasound everything was fine, i now have to have an examination of my back passage to see if they need to send me for a colonoscopy!
Good luck.
