Unable to get clear after 2 and half years after viral labrynthitis

Hi all

I'm new on here but just wanted to share my experience as I know how this illness can bring you down and I hope my story gives you all a bit of hope!

My symptoms started 2 and half years ago in Barbados and was just a feeling that the floor was moving under my feet and my heart would jump out my chest with violent shakes and nausea... Not severe and I blamed the heat. Upon returning home I carried on in work and the symptoms gradually got worse to the point after 6 weeks was signed off with viral labrynthitis. I too then struggled to get support from my doctor and it was a matter of months until I got MRI scan and ENT treatment. This was inconclusive as apparently I was compensating so well for it but they would just say viral lab! I was off work for 6 weeks and had to drag myself back there feeling like a dead dog!

I have since then pushed and pushed with my dr and have had every test under the sun from heart scans to bloods and liver tests all came back fine! As many on here my dr blamed anxiety....that is a big load of donkeys doo doo!!!! Don't let them blame that... It's your condition that makes you anxious not the other way round! 😣

What I want to tell you all though is that although I'm still feeling foggy minded and wobbly and shaky every day after 12 months the symptoms started easing... I forced myself back to running club and was and still am determined to get shut of this thing completely!

I personally now think it is post viral condition which can take a long time to shift but I have full faith that it will go !!

I am in fact back to about 80% of what I used to be and I dream of the day I wake up with a clear head, no shakes, can drink again without being violently ill and not have to constantly think about what should be such a natural thing to do....walk down the street 😊

We all need to stay positive and have the determination that one day we will be back to normal!!!

I hope you all get there and stay positive...it helps!

It will get better 😊

Things I have found that help:

No alcohol (rubbish I know!)

Doing a regular detox

Q10 tablets

Regular massages help relax and treat anxiety

Force yourself to do things that make you dizzy as it helps you compensate for it ( I know it sounds crazy!)

Most importantly... Listen to your body... If tired rest and on good days don't do what we all did at first and burn yourself out doing a million things!

Hope this helps.

Hi, How are things now nearly a year on.....are you taking any meds? I struggle to walk in a straight line with my Lab and feel very apprehensive about walking down the street. My other half gets frustrated with me but I dont think he really understands the problem.

Thanks for listening to me and thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi Trisha

I understand your frustrations completely how long have you had it?

I am actually about 90% back on track I still have good days bad days and it's always there but it is loads better! I am in training for the Liverpool Marathon now in May so it's all going good! Still can't drink much as it wipes me off my feet for days and if I am tired my symptoms are worse.

I came off all meds a long time ago as I found they made me worse to be honest but you need to try different things to see what suits you hun.

My fella the same he doesn't get it even after me having it 3 years but unless you have experienced it then it is hard because you look fine on outside even if going through hell on the inside!!

It's mad but I now know 4 people who suffer with it! I think it's been a new type virus that stays in system for long time for some people .

Try and stay positive I know how much it can get you down and ya feel like ya going nuts!! It will get better I promise but listen to your body and get lots if rest!

I hope it clears for you soon and just remember you are not on your own xx

Hello,  I had Labrynthitis a few years ago and was really dizzy after the initial onset which I couldn't leave bed for 2 days and each time I moved I threw up.   I found a Dr. in Sydney when I could eventually walk again,  and when I saw him he had me lie on a normal desk on my stomach with torso over side of desk and he held my head/shoulders which were well down below torso level.    He turned me a total 360 back to stomach again  (from hips down on the desk all the time)  and guess what............the Labrynthitis was gone.

the crystals in the ear dislodge apparently and this puts them back into place.  I have never had it again.    It was so simple I couldn't believe it.   Only one turn what is more.

I hope you try this and that it works for  you also as it did for me.
