In a previous posting I talked about when my mum was ill and died and how I just kept going for 4 months and then crashed afterwards.
It is amazing what physical and mental resources can be found when it has to be.
On Saturday I was out with a disabled friend and our 2 westie dogs. To cut a long story short he had a fall from his wheelchair due to a rough bit of path and rolled down an embankment due to there being no fencing or safety barrier. Out planned walk in the country park turned into a nightmare ending with 3 hours in casualty where they didn't even x ray him
Things have not been good and yesterday his GP sent him to hospital for the x ray. I had to go to the surgery to get the form and a prescription. Then we had to locate a taxi that would take a passenger in a wheelchair as he canot get himself into his car to drive due to the pain in his chest. I went with him to the x ray and then we got the taxi to take him home again.
Really, I would avoid this level of activity but under extreme circumstances you do what you can and I managed it all. Last night I went to bed at 9 pm and this morning the after effects are beginning to kick in badly.
What I want to say is that when you have to, you can, but there will be consequences which is why it is best to avoid putting yourself under physical or mental strain as far as is possible when you have this condition. We are not lazy, we are just protecting our own wellbeing as much as possible.
That must have been a really awful experience Alicia. As you say, it is amazing how if push comes to shove, we are able to cope. Unfortunately it is sometimes difficult for 'non-sufferers' to understand where we suddenly find these extra resources from. They often don't see the effects it has on us afterwards.
I'm amazed that your friend wasn't automatically xrayed and you had to return to have one taken. Well done though for coping so well and I hope both you and your friend recover very soon.
Thanks Donna - it's Friday May 30th. I'm planning to try and do nothing the week before but it is a worry. I'm still feeling rough having mown the grass last week!! It's sooooooooooooo frustrating! :wah: My fibromyalgia is awful at the moment, and this damp weather doesn't exactly help.
