I've been depressed and anxious for years. I have low energy, brain fog, depression, panic in social situations, and a few other symptoms. Well my dr thinks I have bipolar which might be true. But she prescribed me a mood stabilizer Olanzapine that is known to cause diabetic symptoms and my father is diabetic and I suffer from low blood sugar. She did not tell me this was a possible side effect and I feel it is wrong for me to take this med because of the possibility of diabetes and weight gain. She also prescribed Lexapro which I took before and liked. I have to wait 3 weeks to see a psychiatrist and don't know what to do. I am suffering from my symptoms and need to be able to function and work but don't want to take the wrong medication.
Hi Aubri, I would contact your doctor immediately and share your concerns with her. She may be able to call in a different prescription for you. I agree, do not take anything that will make you feel worse than you already feel.
Personally I'd have a chat wihh your dr. May I ask if it was a GP that prescribed the mood stabilizers? I only ask as I was referred to mental health health and saw and had my own CPN who used to come to.my house. Plus I had to see a psychiatrist who.prescined my quitiopine mood stabilizers. If it was your GP, then id do the same and ask to be referrerd to mental health.
My psychiatrist discoved I had a hidden personality disorder after 20 long years of feeling rubbish and trying every antidepressant undr er the sun. I also take sertraline and 5x5mg diazepam too. In fact a whole myriad of tablets.
Its not a quick fix but I can't Praise Staffordshire and shopshire mental health team enough for helping me out of this black bole of a personality disorder
Hope that helps
