Understanding results will they change?

so i recently found out my partner has hsv2 we have had unprotected sex for a year , i just tested negative for hsv2 after i found out he was positive bc he had an outbreak ! ive had hsv 1(oral) since 2016

results
hsv 1 igg- reactive
hsv-2 igg non reactive ( the lab doesnt show my index)
hsv 1/2 igm - 2.28

even when i was diagnosed with hsv1 my hsv1/2igm has always been negative 3 test over 3 years always igm negative. its now 2.28 . will i be infected with hsv2 … is the test picking up on early infection ? im so scared maybe i tested too soon.
anyone get a positive igm and your hsv2 remained negative even after possible exposure? Whose test changed after noticing positive igm ?

It’s very possible you just don’t have it. The fact that you have HSV1 don’t make you immuned to HSV2 but the HSV1 antibodies can provide a certain level of protection against HSV2.

It’s up to you and your partner to decide if you want to use protection or not but there’s still a risk of infection on your end.
