Severe pain in shoulder which goes down arm and into hand. Also in neck. Limited arm movement. This all started following an injection for hayfever back in March. The injection was very painful and pain in shoulder, neck and arm has not gone away. I can find information on Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration (SIRVA) but this seems only related to flu vaccination..has anyone else had long term problems following an injection into the upper arm? Ultrasound shows a small tear but dr...says not enough to axplain this extent of pain. Have had 2 cortisone injections...did not help. Have been on various levels of pain killers and juts started a pain patch...no relief as yet. Having MRI later in the week. Would love to go back to specialist with some questions and maybe suggestions....seem to be getting nowhere. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Where is the tear? The axillary nerve? National Centers for Biological Information has studies on the subject, Dr. Susan McKinnon (sp?) of St. Louis is well known in the nerve repair field. U tube videos are numerous. Maybe its a sore tendon or some such?
Thanks terry555 not sure exactly where the tear is..really waiting to see what the MRI shows. It is my 60 year old brother who has the problem. He has cerebral palsy and an intellectual disability...usually has high tolerance to pain but this seems extreme and has been going on for 6 months now. He usually goes to supported employment each day but has not been able to do this...'work' is also his social life so he is also becoming isolated, except for family. It is so hard to see him in so much pain.
Eureka,
You and your brother deserve better, and hopefully it will come along soon! The MRI results may shed important light on the situation.
All the best,

Thankyou so much for your messages...will let you know what results we have from the MRI.
Hi Eureka,
Is there any update you can share with us? I got a flu shot about 1.5 months ago and am dealing with shoulder issues now.
Thank you!
