Im a young, 24 yr old, and have been suffering from backpain in my middle left back for about 7 months. I’ve had every test done, everything looks normal. I’m very healthy and fit but everyday (12/7, I say 12/7 because it doesnt wake me up in the middle of the night or anything.) I had gallbladder surgery a few months ago and had it removed because i had minor stones which i originally thought thats why I had the pain but the pain is still there, albeit less (maybe because I can cope better with it). Could this all be stress related or mental? I get this fear it could be pancreas but I don’t think pancreas hurts like a dull pain constantly. Also, im not having much trouble eating at all. Could it be some super rare condition. It seems more pronounced if I have a lot of alcohol but I do not drink that much or often. Also coffee because it is simulative. Has anyone ever had anything like this and do you have any suggestions? Any help would be incredible as this is weighing heavy on my life and decisions. Thank you.
Hi Gavin,
It could be any number of things. Have your kidneys been checked? I say this because kidney pain occurs in the site you describe. Additionally, did they check for retained gallstones?
You could also look at your diet and keep a food diary to see if any particular foods are triggering the pain. It could be that your system is struggling to process some foods and your symptoms are linked to digestive issues or trapped wind. Without a gallbladder it is important to take it easy on foods with higher fat contents and also with alcohol. Smaller portion sizes are also easier to digest. Remember that your liver is now working a little harder so you need to give it a helping hand. If pain persists keep pushing your doctor to investigate further. Best of luck.
I had a CT scan and ultra sound and everything came back normal beside needing to have my galbladder taken out. I’ve had this same dull pain in the back for months though and cant understand why. Alcohol definitely triggers it. I eat very healthy for the most part so I cant imagine anything is bothering it in my day-to-day diet. It lasts from morning to night, everyday.
hi Gavin,
If alcohol is a trigger, it sounds like it could be linked to your digestive system, so perhaps something else you are eating is also triggering it. Try the food diary and see if there is any correlation.
