So December of 2015 I drank 2 beers on my birthday(first time drinking beer). The next morning I wake up with a terrible stomach ache, feeling extremely nauseous and sick. Went to the hospital and obviously they just told me I had a hang over and sent me on my way after some fluids. Before those 2 beers I ate pretty much everything, nothing was really off limits. I was not the same after that night. I have had terrible burning in my stomach, feeling extremely full after eating just a small amount, and having strange bowel movements. I developed severe anxiety of food almost immediately, it was never an issue until after that night. In September 2015 a doctor discovered that I had H.pylori so then we treated it and I while I felt a little better and later tested negative for it, I still didnt feel normal.
I had an endoscopy and a colonoscopy in 2016, several blood tests in 15/16, stomach emptying test, I even wore a halter monitor for a month where it found a few 1-2 second pauses but they seemed to brush that off. I have been to 3 different doctors and nobody can figure out a way to help my stomach aches. I have been told I have IBS, went through everything possible to soothe or treat IBS but it made no difference. I have tried taking hyoscyamine for an 'over sensitive stomach' as one doctor suggested, but the results were not noticeable.
Here are a list of most of my symptoms:
-Feeling full very quickly
-Feeling that I need to burp for comfort
-Nausea
-Headaches
-Episodes of diarrhea about 2 times a month
-Consistent dull ache in upper left abdomen
-Spasms in colon
-Recently, menstrual type cramps unassociated with period
-Severe anxiety
-Indegestion
-Weakness
-Tingling in arms
-Tiredness
-Neck stiffness
-Pain in mid back occasionally
-No sex drive
**I also had a scan done of my neck to check my blood vessels and it said that I had nodules on my thyroid and goiter. I read it in the report, they never mentioned it to me.
I am a 23 year old female, it would be amazing if someone could give me ideas. I have tried cutting out several different food groups thinking it might be something I was eating but that didn't help.
Hi Jace75543,
Firstly, sorry to hear about your health issues.
Let’s hope you can get this sorted and diagnosed so you can move on from here!!
You’ve listed some of the findings from various tests and although they might sound worrying they might not be significant and not a cause for any concern at all....... ask your Doctor to confirm this.
Have you had an ultrasound scan of your abdomen? Have you been had any blood tests? Have you had an endoscopy or a colonoscopy? Have your gynae symptoms been checked out thoroughly? Do you take any medications?
Some over the counter anti inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen for example must be taken with food or milk because they can cause severe gastric problems.........could this be a cause?
Maybe you need to show your GP a copy of this “entry” with your list of symptoms so he/she can see exactly what’s bothering you and be able to help allay your anxieties, by sending you for further diagnostic tests if necessary. I’m not suggesting that your problem is due to anxiety but it sounds as if it is exacerbated by anxiety................ something we can probably all relate to.
Could your symptoms be caused by:-
Hiatus hernia,Gastric reflux and/or
IBS? Did you have the triple therapy for your Helicobacter Pylori infection and did you notice an improvement afterwards?
You mentioned that you’ve looked at altering your diet, but maybe you need to exclude certain foods to be really sure that they aren’t the cause of your problems.
Caffeine for example (Diet Pepsi) is my biggest enemy along with citrus fruits and tomatoes. Could there be a trigger food or drink that is exacerbating your symptoms?
Hope you get it all sorted out, and it’s all straightforward. I know what it’s like to be worried about ones health so I hope it’s something innocuous and with a few simple changes you’ll feel better. Please let us all know how you get on.
Kind regards
Jane
Maybe ask to be retested for h pylori in case it has come back; it can do. Gastrtis and IBS spring to mind too. Your gut flora may also be disturbed after the strong h oylori antibiotics. Maybe try some probiotics such as yoghurt. Do a food diary in case you have a food intolerance.
Perhaps ask for some stool tests - check for inflammation or parasites. I guess drs had ruled out an inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn’s or Ulcerative Colitis, but could be worth reconsideration. Also, ache in back between shoulder blades was a symptom my husband had with gallstones. Try taking a list of symptoms to drs. Might be more than 1 thing going on. Good luck.
