Had gradual increase in back pain for 4 months,
A spine consultant reviewed Xray, MRI to tell me poor muscle tone.
Pain is increasing slowly day by day and spreading up the back.
Stress and totally confusec, many web sites say
lower back pain lasts for a few weeks.....
Feels like someone has lodged a marble in my back
so when I sit down I cannot get comfy!
Confused, any ideas anyone...
From what you suggest, it does sound like muscle issues. Unless you are getting any shooting pains into your arms or legs then I'd suggest that no nerves are being compressed.
Have you been to a Physio?
Scott
Thanks just good to hear a reply.
No shooting pains but numb bum which I expect might
just be poor muscle tone.
When sitting my spine has no protection and hurts.
I am starting physio next week.
I hope you find some relief from the pain. I have suffered for 20 years from back pain so can understand how difficult it is to cope. There can be many reasons why we get pain in the spine, i hope you find out soon what is causing it. Good luck with the physio.
Elizabeth.
Stress will cause more pain and will not help you at all physio works for some and not for others did noting for me only made my back pain worse daily stretching walking swimming
Don't google looking too see what it can be as it will make things worse with stress bad backs can last a lifetime had mine for over 23 yrs and it's still bad my lower disc is gone
20 years. So sorry
I cannot even begin to think it is going to last that long, so sorry.
Yes there are lost of reasons, I have started to read some of the comments I am realising I am not alone. Even though skeptical about Physio I will do it. Am also struggling with the pain killers just need to get these right. Will be asking doctors to get this improved.
Take care yourself and thanks for replying.
Alan
Marshall
Thanks for replying.
23 years, I feel like a newbie, how have you managed?
Can you not get an surgery/treatment, have you had an MRI scan, X rays?
Stress is hard I do a lot of travelling at work and this I think causes me many issues. Hoping the physio will help me exercise and calm down. My doctor suggested swimming but this did not work for you?
You are right about google, crazy stuff makes you even more worried.
Scott
Been reading through some of your replies, clearly you are better informed. I wanted to go to one of the back clinics Spire. One in Southampton and one in Manchester, would you recommend this?
Alan
Absolutely. They are fantastic and well worth the outlay. Can't speak highly enough of my numerous experiences with them.
Hi Alan,
What meds are you taking? I currently take Naproxen and have Amitriptyline to help with sleep, this relaxes the nerves around the spine.
I hope you find some relief soon and find out what is causing your pain.
Best wishes.
Elizabeth.
Alan,
I hate swimming, however, it is probably one of the best all round exercise you can do for your spine and your body as a whole. Non-weight baring so no stress on joints and it will build up your muscle tone and also relax the ones you may have that are going into spasm. It allows your core to be strengthened in a fast and efficient way without stressing other parts of your body.
I've just had a double fusion (post op 6 days) and I'll be going swimming, hopefully in a few weeks. I'll also be going back to Spire in Livingston as I trust them to get my back rehab done properly.
Best of luck
Scott
Have you seen a physiotherapist. If not you should n.... Strengthening your muscles through daily at home exercises are crucial
