Unprotected sex --help

So my boyfriend of a year and 1/2 and I broke up about a month ago and it has been heartbreaking because we had lost our virginities to each other. Every time we had sex it was unprotected, we did not worry about STDs because we assumed since we were the first people we had ever been sexually active with it would be okay, we never expected to break up and so that was another contributing factor. I do not want to go the rest of my life without unprotected sex because of him so I was wondering if I waited a certain amount of time that it would be okay to have unprotected sex again with a virgin and not worry about STDs. He never came inside me so we never worried about pregnancy. So does he have for the rest of my life? I just want to find the one, I am not planning on having sex with just a bunch of different people. The next relationship I get in I am waiting a lot longer before we have sex because I have so many regrets about this.

So, in conclusion my questions are

Can I wait a certain amount of time and then be able to have unprotected sex without risking stds? Or am I dirty forever and have my partner wear a condom from now on.

(Please do not lecture me about using a condom, I do not have money or access to them and they are painful. I am aware of the dangers of pregnancy and eventually going to get on birth control once I am in a relationship again.)

Hi Katie,

To tell you the truth no you can't wait a certain time to have unprotected sex without risking STDs or anything like that. You can get them anytime. Like you said go on the birth control but you still get pregnant on them.

Thanks

Katie, first of all, although you have only been with the one guy it's very important to get yourself checked out for any STD's before you get into amother sexual relationship. You can also catch STD's through oral sex and even just kissing someone on the lips (herpes). When you do finally find someone that you want to have a sexual relationship with, it's important that you ask him/her to be checked out first before having any form of sexual relationship, especially if you do not want to use protection. It's also very important that you trust your partner 100% as many people like to have more than one sexual partner and do not think about the consequences. They may say your the only one but this isn't necessarily true. I hope this helps you

You can still get pregnant from pulling out before he climaxes!! (came inside you). There are sperm in the fluid of the penis called the pre-ejaculate.
