I've just been prescribed pregabalin for facial pain. I took first one last night. I felt awful. Dizzy, drunk, palpitations, tingling pains in arms and legs and it stopped me sleeping. Today I feel really drugged and can't focus properly. I have read lots of stuff about awful side effects and trying to get off them being almost impossible. Would appreciate any advice from people who have already tried these. Thanks
Hi Mooma- Sorry to hear what you are experiencing. My exp. of Pregablin is not mixed. I was given for my neck pain and pins in my right arm-possibly due to trapped nerve. I have been diagnosed with a compressed disc in the neck. So, I started on 25mg three times daily. No prob. initially. The dose was increased to 150mg gradually. The pain was much better but not the pins and needles. After about six week, I started to have upset stomach, sleepy most of the time, chest pains, flue like symtomps, very bad eye irritation, severe libido issues, bad dreams, nausia and constipation. I have had to stop the Pregablin.I had to start taking Omeprazole to settle stomach. Many symptoms are better now and I continue to recover from side effects. I know it is used for Neuropathic pains, but side effects, in some patients, may outweigh the benefits. You have choice to make on this. Or you can ask your GP to prescribe something else for your probplem. I hope it helps.
hi,
i started taking these on saturday..
i was also worried about the side affects,i was prescribed i 50mg in the morning and one 50mg in the eve. for anxiety..i have started on just 50mg at around 6.30 for the first 2 nights i felt a bit wobbly, but since then i have been fine,my sleep has improved..i feel a little strange in the morning but within half hour of being awake this completely lifts..i think you just have to bear with it and it gets better..what is your dosage ?
Thanks for this. I chose not to take another one. They just seem too strong for me. It's only just wearing off from last night! I think I'll leave it for now and see if I can manage without or even return to the amitriptyline . Xx
It's only 25mg twice a day but the effects were quite alarming. I do think I am quite sensitive to medication anyway. It has taken me all day to feel reasonable again. Thanks for your input, I'll have a think.x
hi there,u didnt mention the dose you were on,ive been on it for years, for facial pain.still live with the terrible pain, nerves can give,im only on low dose, as well as amitriptyline, but i think its the nerve pain,as i can not focus properly, think clearly,i feel like i have no control over it at all,it controls me,i think pregabalin, may take a while to get used to, i am only on 150 a day, they have just increased my amitriptyline, and they said it may take a while to settle and i may feel rough, also had the injections,
