Unsure if I have IBS?

I'm going to see my Dr on Wednesday, just be clear, I'm not one to go Dr's but this has me panicking for some reason.

So since about 14 (20 now) I've had acid reflux, but I only went to the Dr's for it once at 16, was on Lanzo for about a month, and never went to get re-prescribed or anything. I get it often enough, sometimes it barely bothers me most of the time. I have like a constant lump feeling in my throat, which worsens rarely but it is constantly there, doesn't effect my breathing or anything.

But just recently (2-3 days) I've been having a sort of dull, pressure, sometimes slightly painful feeling bang in the center of my upper abdomen, right below the breastbone.

I have't had a number 2 in 24 hours now, but I don't feel any normal constipation pain, I don't feel nausea, and don't feel particularly "weak" or anything of the sort, which is why I'm worried. Ontop of that, and sorry for TMI, but last night at work on two seperate occasions I badly felt like I needed a #2, but a see through sort of gel like substance came out, nothing else. I don't have any rectal bleeding, but have had it in the past, but it's from the surface/anus area, not from the actual rectum itself.

Am I just being overly paranoid? My family has no history with cancer or anything like that, but because I've put myself in a state of fear I constantly worry that I've developed colon cancer or something similar.

Kind of just looking for re-assurance or if anyone who has had the same symptoms could give me a hand.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

"sometimes it barely bothers me most of the time" great use of English lol, typing faster than my brain is processing the words. I meant the acid reflux barely bothers me, ignore the sometimes.

Your symptoms could be IBS which is more likely at your age. Passing mucus (gel like stuff), acid reflux and generalised shifting stomach pain are symptoms of IBS as well as health anxiety.  Does your pain shift about or stay in the centre if your abdomen?  My gut problems started with reflux and problems digesting fatty foods and tolerating anything  spicy when I was a student.  Then I developed IBS at the age of 42, three years ago.

When you passed blood, did you ever have this investigated?  This is very important. If the blood was bright red, it could be from haemorrhoids or fissures which are common with IBS.  I would see your doctor for tests to rule out other causes.

However, not going to the loo for 24 hours only is not that abnormal; that can happen to anyone.  I have IBS and I have had weekly bouts of constipation and sometimes I don’t go for up to two weeks.  I do get constipation pain and sometimes constipation related nausea. This is the kind of constipation you can expect with IBS  Your stools will typically be small, hard pellets. Pain typically improves temporarily after a bowel movement. I would monitor your bowel habits to see if this pattern develops.

Thank you so much for your reply. I believe the bleeding to be hemmies, yeah, but never got it checked out. Was always bright red, but never happens that often, and only really happens if (TMI again, sorry) I wipe too hard, or vigorously scratched the walls of the anus before I'd gone for a poo.

It's nearing on about 40 hours now, I just ate a singular chicken breast at work, and had a few loud bowel movements, but no pain. The null/pressure feeling does sometimes swing down the left of my abdomen, and sometimes lowers to more of the center of my stomach, like a few inches above my belly button, but this has been rare thus far and only lasted a minute at the most at a time. Again though, no real pain, more of a discomfort that I can deal with. It's been more painful at times, but still not enough to debilitate me or anything.

Try not to wipe to hard to prevent haemorrhoids.  If you do get them, use ointment or ice to shrink them.  Your symptoms could be IBS but see your doctor to confirm
