unusual side effect of acid reducing meds

Wondering if anyone on acid reducing drugs such as ranitidine and pantoprazole sod have any problems after a bowl movement such as: leakage, burning, general discomfort at the anus. I have never had this problem before and just yesterday had to apply an ointment that is used for diaper rash because it was extremely uncomfortable. 

I had a colonoscopy in November so alls well in that department. I love long walks but have had to cut these short due to this issue.

I suffer terrible wind and leakage since being on ppi, I think it's one of the many side effects

Thank you Kate----and the wind, yes! I am hoping others will respond to my inquiry with similar claims. The ppi meds are getting a lot of bad press lately and some of the more serious side effects are frightening.

I have to say, that in my experience with LPR (I do not have "heartburn&quot the drugs have not made a difference in my symptoms so I think it's time to discuss this with my Gastro or GP and get off the meds.

Hi. Sorry to hear about yr discomfort.

I think diarrhoea.... and the rest are listed amongst side effects of those meds.

If uve had loose watery stools for a few days itll make yr bum sore.

If its not settled within 2weeks a visit to doctors might be a good idea.

Thank you Katerina---- I don't have a diarrhea problem but after each BM I sometimes feel like I passed broken glass and have lingering residue that causes discomfort. This is what I think is a side effect of the med. With that in mind I'm thinking the meds effect the stool (more acidic?) Of course I will bring this up with the MD but it is always good to know of others with a similar problem because Doctor will generally downplay this and figure the med is more important than the negative side effects.

No problem James, I'd love to get off ppi too but am frightened that il suffer even worse, if you decide to come off them, don't do it too suddenly as you might get rebound reflux which is horrendous, good luck with your gastro doctor

Anus pain could be an anal fissure or hemorrhoid

True, but I have experienced both and that is not the problem here.
