Well physiotherapist been round gave me a zimmer frame to get up and about with for first few days was a bit daunting after watching the fella in next bed get up do a few steps and faint but i managed just a very strange feeling
I love your style Dominic....you're making it sound like a comedy sketch !
I had a drain in which I think kept me light headed for a day or so. Once out I progressed better.
Wait till you get those crutches....!
Rob...
π±π±π± ohhhh gosh not ideal , poor man , he probably got up a little too quick π° Hope he's ok . Well done you , I too had the zimmer for 2 days . Don't rush yourself, listen to body and only do what you feel capable of X hope dinners not bad π·. Salt and pepper are a MUST ππ½
Clips out for me today. The leg feels so much freer now. Realise that the soreness seemed to be coming from those clips -they were ready to come out !
It is a bit like a comedy sketch guy in next bed is a laugh and have a bit of a bit of joke with the staff
It's the best therapy. We all have ups and downs, uncertainties and lighter days. Your attitude will help in the 'foggier'days...
Rob
Well done my first few steps with Zimmer frame left me using a lot of swear words but now it is my best friend π
Dominic you will be fine..... determination is the name of the game here..... the first few days are the worst in taking those few steps. Everyone is different so do what YOU can.
βOnce home you must do your exercises... and little walks... you will soon be walking without thinking about it.
Good luck
Getting in and out of bed seems to be the hardest bit very painful
I had both hips done at the same time and it was a nightmare to get out of bed, they gave me an air bed and all I did was sink down. ..... provided plenty of entertainment to other patinets and staff.... in fact I laughed so much when I got stuck in the bed they had to let the air out.
Seems to be no easy way to get in bed no power to lift leg up and alot of pain
Yes I agree but after a while as if by magic u can suddenly albeit painfully get up !at first I thought how the heck am I supposed to do it ? But 11 days in I can tho it hurts a little - seems to have come together somehow ! If only the buttocks would stop acheing ....
Do you have a dressing gown cord ? I used mine slung round my foot and pull up with the two ends , it really helps. Keep doing the exercises. It's only day 1 π³ I'm 13 days in and it's still really hard but it is getting easier. X
hi Dominic,
you accomplished a lot today. ...
They didn't use a zimmer frame but gave us a 4 wheeled walker, a rollator. ..
much easier ...
getting out and in to bed will get easier. ..
wishing you a good night with hours of uninterrupted sleep.
big warm hug
Yep, that seems to take a huge effort. Give it two or three more days and your muscles will respond a little better. Suddenly that doesn't seem to be such an obstacle in the same way....
After alot of pain with my first THR, and even problems at home.
I worked out that tucking my unoperated toes and foot under my operated ankle, relaxing the operated leg completely and thinking mermaid, or merman in your case, and letting the unoperated leg do all the work was the trick.
I got really good at it by my 2nd THR I had it down pat, impressed even the nurses just how easy and with lack of pain, errrrr, but you know what I mean, I could move myself.
