Update after surgery to remove 2 cysts

Hi I just figured I would update you all on how my surgery went. They ended up being able to do it laparoscopically which was very exciting but they had to make four incisions as I had two cysts on separate ovaries. Also at first my doctor said the bigger cyst was the size of a grapefruit but after the surgery he informed me it was more like a honeydew melon! It went from my right hip to my left hip and had 21 oz of fluid in it. I had to stay over night in the hospital because my heart rate was 133 which was very abnormal. They found out I was just dehydrated and pumped liquid through my iv for hours sad. I hate needles. The pain in my shoulders was unbearable for the first week but eventually went away. After two weeks I had no pain and felt 100% better. Overall I'm just so glad it's over with and now I can focus on my senior year smile

Delighted you are sorted and on your way to recovery ashlyn. I hope you dont mind me asking a question about your experience? Which kinds of scan did you have prior to the surgery? Did they have any idea the bigger cyst was the size it was from the scans? Im asking as Im due a CT scan tomorrow to check which kind of op I will need

I had an ultra sound and a MRI done. They at first told me the cyst was 12 cm from the ultra sound then it was more like 11 cm after the MRI done, roughly the size of a grapefruit. When they went in though it ended up being larger than they thought and they said it was more like a honeydew melon. I don't know if it got bigger in the two weeks between the scans and surgery or if they just made a mistake but they ended up doing it laparoscopically so that's all I care about.

Yes thats fantastic. Hope Im as lucky as you ad get the same kind of surgery!
