Update: four weeks and one day

Hi dear friends!

The only problem I am having at the moment is that occasionally I feel some pinching on my scar, as if the stiches were too tight. All the rest is going well, I am walking around the house without a walking stick, but I use it when outside because I need more space, I would hate to be pushed by a passed by. I sleep at night on any position except on the operated side, the scar is still sensitive.

I am slowly returning to my normal life, seeing friends, going shopping, cooking, washing, ironing etc. I am going to one of my son's degree cerimony on Thursday!

Sometimes I go to sleep in the afternoon, which I have never done before in my life...The amazing thing is that I can still sleep through the night, even after a two hour afternoon nap.

I wish you all the best in your recovery.

Ella

Hi Ella

Glad you are doing so well. I am 2 weeks and 5 days post op. I was advised to put E45 cream on my scar as it felt tight and it feels great now. You might want to try that or Bio Oil which is good for scar tissue

Hope I can get some sleep at night - I can sleep in the day for quite a while but night time the pain kicks in, although not as bad now as it has been

Kind regards Linda

Hi Ella,

sounds like youre coming on in leaps and bounds!   glad to hear it,,,,, it does feel good when you start getting your old life back.... i am two weeks post op, and apart from this tight, itchy feeling around the scar area, i am feeling pretty good. Must admit I think I did too much the other day, as we went to see my son on his birthday, and had a little to much wine!   My dressing is coming off the day after tomorrow, so hopefully when that`s done, I will feel a bit of relief!!

keep up the good work!     x    sue

I got prickles in my scar for quite a long time and still get itching at 9 weeks.

Hi Ella,

it's great to hear how well you are doing.  How long has it been for you ?  I'm wondering when I will feel brave enough to walk around the house without a stick.  Several people including the physios have suggested Bio Oil which I've just started using.  It's readily available and I got mine with my Tesco order?

Keep up the great work,

laura

Hi Linda,

I apply Bio  Oil daily, but the pinkchng sensation is deep down not on the surface of the scar. The scar has healed very well , it's quite thin.

The nights will get better with time, I was wake thorugh the night after only two weeks from the op.Now it's so much better!

Kind regards

Ella

Hi Sue,

if I do too much I suffer the following day...but it's not too bad! You can always rest one day and "overdo" the other.

Best wishes

Ella

My next chek up is on July 16th, I'll have to wait until then and see what the professionals have got to say about my progression.

Have a good week!

Ella

Hi Laura,

I had my op 4 weeks and one day ago...I have used Bio Oil dayly since they removed my dressing, it' s really good, I bought it from Boots.

Best wishes

Ella

dear Ella -  I know what you mean - it is underneath the scar - well, I picture all my cells repairing the damage done --- needs to be good and tight, right - like sewing or knitting a torn fishing net or something ... anyway ... happy you are doing so amazing ...

big hug

renee

Hi Renee,

I like the idea of knitting a torn fishing net...it feels just so!

Big hugs!
