What a worry.... Take care of nutrition after antibiotics as your gut will be distressed... You must feel so helpless. Let's hope they work - fast.

Hi

yes very worried as i feel so unwell with it. Hope ur well

Dee x

Hope you feel better soon and the antibiotics do their stuff.  Also the Consultant will take care of you and hopefully set your mind at rest.  Wishing you well.

Hi

just lost my faith in everything at the moment... Hope ur well

I'm sure all the antibiotics are making you feel unwell as well as the stress of it all. Is the scar any better? Can you take some probiotics to help your stomach? I find taking them regularly helps my immunity all round. Although you are worried about seeing consultant you may find him helpful in the way GP couldn't be. Keep us posted

Hi Denise,

So sorry to hear about your infection. All those antibiotics add to the misery. My heart goes out to you and so do my prayers. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Hi

thank you for your kind words feeling very low and tearful. How are you doing now?

Hi

hang in there. The drugs do peculiar things to people's minds . It will get better. Eat and sleep and read a good book.

Hi Denise sorry to read you are feeling so low.   Antibiotics can drag u down without the infection....   Once they kick in and start fighting the infection u will soon pick up.   Try and keep positive.  Let us know how u get on with consultant.   Take care x

I have those moments too. The key is to not stay there too long. Easier said than done, right?

I am doing well thank you.

Hi all

Thank you all for your support. Today ive my appointment with consultant....6 week check

Infection is worse today than yesterday, daughter has been taking photos.

Lets hope consultant has some ideas..........

Bad news... Awful. Think there are other measures like intravenous. Doesn't help now, but at the start you know what I recommended. Thank goodness you've got him today so can be admitted and not left languishing in a corridor, but you need to be doubly strong, glad to hear you've got family support. Keep optimum nutrition...it'll be dealt with now... Please don't write to say he didn't show up or I will do a primal scream. Let us know....

Hi. Not sure if you are in US or UK? I agree with you re nutrition and antibiotics but would say that if one goes into an UK hospital make sure someone brings in food for you as the nutritional value is negligible. I was in a "world class" orthopaedic hospital in London for six nights and I lost seven pounds in weight as the food was inedible.

I lost more than a stone. Was already underweight due to personal stresses w partner cancer op.  Done Friday pm. Surgeon flew off never to surface for 3 days. Weekend no drs no food. Bowels finally emptied after 3 days like giving birth as had catheter etc. paralysed waist down following requested  huge anaesthetic dose and epi etc. now researching surgeon success rates, numbers performed, post or ant approach etc. looking at Birmingham Mr McKnn (sp) who's done 6,000. Private this time whatever the cost. Both sides hurt equally now after 18 months. Ironic. But infection? That must be terrible fear reading the post n here f the fellow who was obviously infected and they blatantly and negligently overlooked it and had to be opened up and drained.  I guess risk exists however many precautions you take.   Dins write up surgeon comments on here Plse...Sarah

Oops. Should be Denise obviously. But then "rates" was RATS!

Hi Sarah And Denise, I do not want to be rude by cutting into your thread, but it has startled me to hear of deplorable hospital conditions and no food on the weekends? And inadequate food when they do offer it? Languishing in the hallways?

I have missed a lot of posts, and you do not have to take the time to fill me in if you do not want to take the time to do so, But are there really hospitals who treat people that poorly?

Oh my

💛 Dawn, USA

Hi Dawn, whilst te NHS is free at he point of use (we at for it in taxes) everything more o less stops at the weekend. Minimal medical cover and if you need a scan or X-ray foget it. The food is ALWAYS awful - though I'm sure some people on here will have had decent food. It's always the cheapest possible and no nutritional value at all. The soup choice was green with lumps, red with lumps or beige with lumps on a three day rota. Everything was crammed full of salt to disguise the taste presumably. It's always been like this though - bit of a national "joke" like the weather in UK
