i haven't posted for a while (70 year old lady with MS) as rather busy persuading my MS to not sulk because of the torturous thrice daily exercise regime but now 8 weeks post TKR right leg and doing brilliantly. Physio at hospital delighted as are we as a family. (They have been truly amazing) Walking further and further daily in spring sunshine with 2 crutches but just 1 indoors and back to using little pedal cycle exerciser for few minutes daily and even MS not objecting! Bend really good so delighted with progress. Happy Easter one and all.
Well done! Happy Easter to you.
Well done hope I get on as well as you I am 4 days post op
Brilliant. Happy Easter to you as well. 🐣
Wonderful news! With the Spring weather coming, time to enjoy the outdoors hopefully without pain!
Sounds brilliant - well done for sticking with the physio!
Well done my freind you have coped remarkably well. Keep up the good work and happy Easter to you
That sounds so positive, what a way to welcome in the Spring. You will be out and about enjoying it in no time.
Thank you Tucks. At times it sure has been a struggle because in addition to the MS I have also had bowel cancer so visits to the loo take place extremely frequently day and night but the upside has always been that moving around every 1-2 hours keeps the body from stiffening up! Most things in life have a good side if you look for it I guess. Today my husband measured the distance we walked and it was half a mile so feeling mega pleased. Lightweight duvet cover still feels like sandpaper though. Does anybody else experience super sensitivity? Have tried drapeing silk pillow case over knee/leg but made no difference - it just got hot!!!! Duvet is summer 4.5 tog one.
Yes, twelve weeks and the thigh is still SUPER sensitive. . more so to the soft touch than to rubbing or massage. . It's a nerve problem . . It 'usually' resolves according to the internet, . . . but not always! I;ve seen nine months mentioned. . . hoping it will be less, because it really is rather annoying! At first, mine was really incredibly painful, but that at least has improved. . now it hurts when I walk, when the duvet touches it, which unfortuantely is most of the night, and if I wear anything othr than the very softest trousers . . . it;s a pain!
Thanks for that. I am never aware of the sensitivity other than at night and massaging in the bio oil is just fine. Thakfully there is no pain worth mentioning relating to my knee any more which is just wonderful. I do get what I refer to as "electric shocks" up and down my left leg but that is, and always has been, due to my MS that affects that side of my body more than the other. How fortunate the TKR is on the right side or life would have been even more "interesting" over the past 8 weeks!!!!! Enjoy your Easter eggs and hit cross buns.
Poor you camper you have certainly had more than your share of problems, but you still appear so upbeat and you are achieving such a lot with yours. Wish you well my freind and carry on with the good work x
Unfortunately hot cross buns have not made it over the Atlantic to tenerife! Easter eggs are available in the tourist type of shop, but not in general . . . .have to make do with a chocolate rabbit over here!
I shall use you as my inspiration! I am only 5 days tkr, but bacause of a traumatic experince with a staple my physio is very slow, If you can do it with all your health problems then so will I , thankyou and well done you
Oh poor you, having any kind of problem with the staples must be truly horrific and has obviously impacted on your exercise regime which must be so frustrating for you Dotty Lotty. Hope problem resolves itself very soon and you are able to progress. Take care and fingers crossed for you.
